People do have a right to be called whatever name they choose, but she could have handled that a tad more professionally - especially since all he was trying to do was to be polite and respectful of her position. :BangHead:

She could have had a private conversation with him after the fact or she could have sent him a e-mail, private note, or some sort of correspondence that said, "Thank you for your meeting with the Senate sub-committee on such-and-such date. I appreciate your respectfulness in referring to me as "Ma'am". If you would, it would mean a lot to me if you would refer to me as "Senator" if we work together again in the future. Thank you very much."

I go by "Ms." To the parents of the children that I teach, my colleagues, the general public, and my students.

I don't get my nose out of joint if children or their parents accidentally say or write, "Mrs." or "Miss".

To make sure that my wishes are known, at the first parent meeting I simply write my name on the dry-erase board with my title included, and call attention to my whole name and say, "This is how I spell my name. And this is how I pronounce it......" Not everyone pronounces my last name correctly.

And I sign all of my correspondence the same way.

If someone misspells it or uses the wrong title, I do not correct them. They aren't doing it out of disrespect.

I think she could have handled the whole thing differently. All he was doing was showing manners.

Probably contempt for the military that most democrats, especially the likes of Mrs. Boxer, like to display.

I'll go by anything as long as the person calling me is respectful, and not being rude...

Rev, Pastor, Mr., Tim, Timmy, Tiny, Bro. Tim, and my favorite...

    Dum dum pastor...

I have a little girl coming to church that loves calling me that, and she absolutely loves me!.. She brings me dum dum suckers every now and then...

I know she respects me, and I am just a sucker for kids!

And yet another person without an argument believes the ad hominem is a debate tactic.

She doesn't wish to be addressed as maam? How is one supposed to address her? If she were to ask me a question, am I supposed to say, "Yes, Senator"? I'm sorry, that just sounds like I should be addressing her as drill sergenat.

If she don't like being called maam, that's just tough. As Tiny stated, there are other names for her, that many people wouldn't like or approve of.

MP, "Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?" Of all the people that would preach about Christian decorum.....

Fact is, I spoke the truth about Senator Boxer. She is a bed wetting liberal to the enth degree and a disgrace to our country. But, I can understand why you would be insulted. After all, I'm sure you have one of her posters hung up in your living room.

And the ad hominems get repeated and extended. Do you have anything to actually add to the conversation other than vile language? Have you ever been in her bed to see if she wets it? And coming from a so-called "pastor" yet. I truly feel sorry for the people in your church.

Why isn't it enough to point out that Boxer was being an arrogant, classless jerk? It is unthinkable that she is so insecure with a man being a gentleman. With serious business that the Senate is supposed to be handling, she should have greater concerns than someone who was brought up to respect people, particularly women. You would think that Boxer would be praising him and encouraging all the men in our society to follow his example and be respectful of women, regardless of their position.

I don't think we need to cast aspersions based on her night time urination habits. She has enough policy and priority problems without going there.

    That was funny!!!!

But the term "Bed wetting liberal" has nothing to do with urination habits...

And Senato... I mean, Ms. Boxer fits that definition to a "T"
