Get lost OR. You never have anything positive to contribute. Why don't you just stop your lying?

You have yet to contribute anything to this Forum, even with your devious membership and 4+ monikers, except anti-American, leftist/Marxist propaganda and your unwavering support and adoration of the rabid baby killer Barak Obama.

Once again: The next time you get banned "whoever" perhaps you can come back as "A Truther" like Van Jones!

Now O.R., I can't let you get away with that. You know Bush 43 had little regard for that document. Don't be as bad as the people you are debating.

We may not have had a truly Constitutional president since Jefferson.

Unfortunately Bro. Curtis we live in a world of political, moral, and religious relativism. Compared to the democrats since Wilson the Republicans have been downright strict constructionists; well actually only Reagan. Some, however, were advocates of big Federal government and they made some stupid Court appointments.

Compared ? That doesn't cut it. Being a little constitutional is like being a little pregnant.

Ya either are, or y'aren't.

Why do you say that? I have no idea where you're coming from.
This is exactly where I am coming from. The Constitution says the power rests with the people and flows to the government, not the other way around. You seem to have a problem equating compassion with liberalism. Since when did the apex of human achievement come from a brain dead government instead of individual achievement and self reliance? The present people in power have no connection to the Constitution or liberty and freedom. They do not create an atmosphere of life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness. They are control mongers, and want to dumb down and stifle the citizens individual thinking.

Those who think like you actually not only help keep the clowns that are in power now, but set up a situation where the other liberal party (less to a degree) will be elected to take over and start the miserable cycle over again. By you painting such a contrast with the Republicans, you are keeping the status quo going. To bad you did not produce the move Goundhog Day.

You are doing this country no favors by your attitude. At least those who support the old conservative Republicans that are now on the outs with the party main stream, realize, down deep inside, that there is something very wrong with the situation. Their only difference with me and a few others is that they are willing to put up with the hope that Republicans some day will go back to a conservative base. You position has no hope, as the Democrats will only continue to get more liberal than they are, and continue to steer the country towards socialism.

OR is anything but a fool. He is a Constitutionalist and patriot in his inner being. Our disagreement is only the present state of the Republican Party. If you would read his posts, you would get an excellent perspective of history and politics before the Kennedy years. I will always cherish, and you should also, those who can tell it like it was before we were old enough to understand politics.

I disagree. There is no such thing as a little pregnant. Unfortunately, as I said, Bro. Curtis we live in a world of political, moral, and religious relativism and that applies to the Constitution.

I have no doubt that John McCain believed in a correct interpretation of the Constitution but, perhaps because of his experiences, he was co author of one of the worst pieces of legislation to come out of Congress, the McCain Feingold Bill. I am convinced that many people who voted for it and President Bush who signed it thought the Supreme Court would through it out but they did not. Hopefully the Court will toss it out when ruling on the Hillary movie. The McCain Feingold bill did much to defeat the Republicans in recent elections. The democrats being smarter were able to take advantage of loopholes.

Wait a minute OR, are you saying politicians write bills knowing they are unconstitutional? And then wait to see what the courts will say? That seems a bit backwards to me.

These guys are supposed to protect and defend the constitution not write bills they know help undermine it. Something either is or is not constitutional and it's their job to make sure that the constitution is upheld. Period. There's no good excuse for them not to do their job, and no good excuse for them to pass the buck to the next guy or another branch of government.

As you may recall McCain was unfairly implicated in the scandal over savings and Loan institutions. I believe that colored his view of campaign finance reform. I suspect that he believed the McCain Feingold bill to be Constitutional.

You are exactly correct. They take an oath to preserve and protect the Constitution of the United States and then routinely violate it, particularly the 10th Amendment.

The Supreme Court had previously struck down laws that restricted money used in campaigns, saying that such a restriction violated the 1st amendment. I believe that some people voted for the McCain Feingold bill believing the Court would find it unconstitutional. That is simply my opinion but they could avoid the recriminations from the left and leftist media by doing so. There are few Republican politicians that are vertebrates.

I do not believe that President Bush would have promised to sign the bill if he knew it would be upheld by the Court. But the Court for whatever reason reversed itself on previous rulings. I believe that the Court will not overturn McCain Feingold as a result of their broadening the scope of the hearing on the Hillary movie.
