Fox News: 11-Year-Old Girl Gives Birth to Baby Boy

(Fox News) – An 11-year-old girl in the United States recently gave birth to a baby boy, the girl’s family told Fox News on Friday.
"My daughter and (her) baby are fine, and the baby is absolutely beautiful," said the mother of the 11-year-old girl. The girl and her family are not being named in order to protect the new parent's privacy.
A recent report by the Guttmacher Institute said teen pregnancies in the U.S. were up 3 percent in 2006. But this case is not about a teenager, noted Dr. Abdulla Al-Khan, a leading high-risk obstetrician — it’s about a pre-teen whose body is not yet built to carry a child.
"Her body is clearly not defined for pregnancy with its short stature," Al-Khan said. "Her chest is not extensively developed for breast tissue, her bones aren't quite fused, and once you expose a child this young to high amounts of progesterone and especially estrogen, there is (a possibility) that it could halt her growth."
There are also psychological issues associated with pre-teen pregnancy because a 10-year-old cannot be mentally ready to give birth, Al-Khan said.

You think this is a joking matter?

chill out, man.
you;'re too serious.
shave that beard and put on a little smile.
what's done is done.
that said, if someone needs to be shot, I'll start with the parents.
sometimes a female gets pregnant at the first time, but not always.]
more often it takes a few months of relationship for something like pregnancy to happen, and I don't buy it when parents say, "I never knew about it".
that's balderdash.
yet the news item concentrated on the effects of early childbirth on an 11 year old, when the question should have been why did this happen ?
those parents should be put under investigation for child neglect at the very least, and I will not be surprised if the father is as much a minor as the mother.

Wasn't St Mary 12 years old or so when she became pregnant with Jesus?

Even if she was, this girl did not become pregnant by the Holy Spirit.

Additionally, our culture is quite different and sex with a minor is a crime.

Period.

Who is the father?

Somebody belongs in jail.

Depends on the age of the father. One of my brothers reached puberty before his teens and could have gotten a girl pregnant; he was sexually active already at that age. I was 10 or 11 when I watched him with a girl and thought it was fascinating.

Comparing Mary, the mother of Jesus, to this modern day 10-year-old who just had a baby is nonsensical.

Why?

In the first place, we have no CLUE how old Mary was. Tradition says that she was 14 or 15, but that is just tradition.

What is factual is what the word "virgin" means in Matthew 1:23 (which is a quote of Isaiah 7:14).

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

The word virgin can mean "a marriagable woman" or a "chaste woman" or "a chaste man" according to Strong's concordance.

This means that however old Mary was, she was following her culture's accepted practice of marriage. In fact, she was married to Joseph, but not living with him yet, as her culture prescribed.

Mary, who was probably 14 or 15, married a man in her age bracket and she married him willingly. They abstained from sex until after Jesus was born. They had a long time to become acquainted with marriage and each other before participating in consensual sex. Mary and Joseph learned all of those things together and at the same time.

This modern 10-year-old who has had a baby was either (a) impregnated by an adult - which is illegal and a felony in our culture or (b) fooling around with another minor child and got pregnant - which is a travesty in our culture.

Mary’s relationship with Joseph was normal - neither illegal nor a travesty. Normal in the sense that they understood each other’s perspective. The angel Gabriel had explained things to both of them. And they, being similar in age, had a common worldview. He loved her dearly and did not wish for her to be stoned. They had a relationship. And they worked on that relationship as legally married adults months before they ever had sex.

This 10 year old child will NEVER have a normal relationship with the father of the baby. Even if he is a minor child, they are both children not mother and father material - and not husband and wife material. And she will probably not have a normal relationship with her own child. There are millions of brothers and sisters who are farther apart in age than this little girl and her child.

keep in mind that billwald has quite the low opinion of Jesus.

It would stand to reason he would also trivialize the virgin birth.
