ABC network set to attack Christianity with "Good Christian B-tches" show

"For Heaven's sake, don't let God get in the way of a good story!" - GCB author Kim Gatlin

    March 7, 2011

The ABC network is currently working on a pilot for a prime-time program called Good Christian B-tches http://www.foxnews.com/entertainmen...ches-inappropriate-damaging-title/?test=faces.
It's a Christian-bashing version of ABC's current "Desperate Housewives." The show centers on a recently divorced mother of two who moves back to the affluent neighborhood where she grew up to find herself in the whirling midst of gossip, Botox and fraud.
Disney-owned ABC has no reservations about creating hate speech against Christians, but you can be sure they would never consider a show called "Good Muslim B-tches" or "Good Jewish B-tches."
With a title like "Good Christian B-tches," you can imagine what kind of show it will be. Even if they change the title, the content will still mock people of faith.
    TAKE ACTION
Sign a petition to ABC and parent company Disney to drop all plans to air the anti-Christian program "Good Christian B-tches."
We'll add your petition to thousands of other voices in also urging advertisers to place it on their "do not advertise" list and consider pulling all ads from the ABC network in protest of this Anti-Christian bigotry.

Didn't believe it when I saw it in your post...then I looked it up.

I am shocked that they would be this stupid to put something like this out there.

Thankfully we don't watch tv very much at all and this won't interfere with our lives. I wonder if they'll make a similar one about Muslims or Jews or Indians or Asians...

The link you provided said the page had expired. Could you give another link to this story?

This sounds very similar to the old (disproven and false) internet rumor that went around and is still going around about the FCC trying to ban Christian content on television and radio.

I'd check sources before getting all excited.

Or maybe you could look it up before telling others to. Google the title of the show. At the top of the google page you will find a website dedicated to the show. Of course there are a plethora of news services covering the story.

Thank you Amy for the links and the heads up. This just breaks my heart that the church has stooped so low in the publics eye that this would even be considered. I believe what we are seeing is because of the conduct of the church and our Lord's name is suffering.

It seems that Christians are "free shoot" in the world today. Very sad.

Its interesting that ABC is doing this (testing this?) idea. I was talking with a guy who has written against Christianity a couple of months ago (he's a notable atheist) about why he and other atheists (ala Dawkins) don't really go after Muslims and others.

He told me that Christians are easy targets for the media because while our leaders will get up in arms about something our people will express outrage then buy the product/watch the show. He also muttered something about Christians not blowing you up.

I think this is the logical outcome of a) free market and b) celebtrized culture.

These folks know they can't lose. No such thing as "bad publicity" for TV.

There will be some people--very few, but some--who will take a principled stand.

Most will object, but they'll "adapt." :(

If there's a firestorm, they can just bury the idea, and bring it up a couple of years from now, when our society has declined further.

And...of course...if the whole thing is a hoax, then they manage to have Chrsitians "look stupid." They always get a kick out of that

Pathetic, ain't it? Can you imagine if they tried this with Muslims? One, the political backlash...and two, the violence that would inevitably follow.

If you watch prime time TV (except for PBS and TCM . . . ) you have already sold out. If you don't watch, no one cares.

I got all excited there for a minute because I flashed back to seeing a funny video of a dog appearing to pray at the dinner table, so when I saw that title on the link I was having an "all dogs go to heaven" moment.

    DARN!

The one link suggests it's aimed for Christian viewers who will find humor in a bit of self-deprecation.

Dunno about anyone else, but self-deprecation only goes so far, and my personal so far stops quite a while before that name!

My apologies. I did google it and it is real.

Sad day, but what else would we expect from that market? I fully expect sinners to sin.

I haven't wasted much time reading up on this television pilot, but I don't really think it is fair to say that it is an attack on Christianity... at least, biblical Christianity.

It looks like it is an attacked on self-centered American religiousity that appropriates the name of Jesus, but focuses on self-involved cultural and political movements that have very little to do with Christ.

Now the creators of the show may think they are attacking Christianity (this may be their experience of "Christian" life), but I'm sure Jesus, Paul, and John the Baptist would have some pretty harsh things to say about the state of American religious life.

I have yet to personally meet a professed atheist who takes issue with the teachings of Jesus (although I know there are some out there). Every "atheist" I've met is angry about a church experience they've had or is completely unimpressed with contemporary church culture.

In a similar way, there are very few big name preachers I respect, I cringe at most of the stuff sold in "Christian" book store (I generally avoid them), and dislike 95% of popular Christian music.

Unfortunately, I doubt this show will have anything truthful or prophetic to say, so it looks like it is just another opportunity for producers of mass media to get Christians to start a knee-jerk protest that might build a buzz so that another low-quality sitcom can get on the air and make some fast money.

The way to fight this sort of thing is to generally ignore it. If someone asks your opinion about it (especially media types), say that there are a lot of messed up superficial religious people out there, and that it might be a good thing for a show to ridicule what God also rejects. That will kill it for sure.

You're kidding, right? So, the world hated Christ because He was hypocritical?

Not the same concept, but a show depicting Muslims in an unfavorable light has been done. I didn't hear of any violence or political backlash.

Little Mosque on the Prairie, Canadian TV sit-com.

I think anything that mocks Christianity IS an attack on Christians. What if we substituted the word "Christian" in this case with any of these: Muslim, Negro, Jewish, Disabled, etc? You'd better believe there'd be a huge backlash!

Hitler mocked the Jews and portrayed them in the worst way possible, on billboards and other ways, to get the people to look down on Jews and hate them. He wanted people to associate Jews with a negative social stigma. Once he accomplished that, it was just a step and a jump to mass murder.

That's why this is serious. We'd do well to learn from history. It has a tendency to repeat itself.

Maybe it wasn't widely publicized? I know certain cartoonists have received death threats for portraying Muslims in a poor (but accurate) light.

Little Mosque on the Prairie is a good family TV show. I watched it in CBC for a couple of years.

Why do Christians think that God can't fight his own battles? If some stranger mocks God, that's God's problem. Not mine.
