On the 220th anniversary of the Bill of Rights the Senate authorised the indefinite detention of American citizens without being charged simply because they might be terrorists.

The terrorists have the won the war. They have fundamentally changed America. The president can bypass courts and legislatures to order the execution of citizens and now American citizens, even on American soil, can be arrested and held indefinitely simply because they are suspected of being terrorists.

All that is left now is further concessions toward those who seek to destroy freedom.

Ben Franklin nailed when he wrote in 1759 - 'Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.'

Even in the worst days of The Troubles in Ireland suspected terrorists had to be charged within a week (I think that was the time period) or released.

But seeing how this conservative court has not sided with civil rights in several cases in the past, i.e. habeas corpus, eminent domain to name two, I am not optimistic.

Yes, the terrorists won in a number of ways. I hope the conservatives on the BB who have defended the Bush, the Patriot Act and other civil rights being taken away are happy. It is a sad day for the lovers of freedom.

Things are only going to worsen in the forseeable future. The Lord is rightly condemning our nation's wickedness. Christians must become aware of the times and season in which we live. America (it is ever was) is no longer a Christian nation, and tough times are ahead. Now is the time for local churches and Christian communities to come together and prepare to bear each other's burden, and help those we can in this, everyone's time of need.

They didn't not cancel the Bill of Rights. Japanese (and German) Americans were illegally detained, but it was illegal. Now these actions are legal. That is a fundamental change.

I have to agree that we lost the war and the losses are growing. The sad thing is that so many who claim to be Christians and even in the military have helped in the battle against us.
The socialist agenda is growing with the suspending of our rights and freedoms that are disappearing at a rapid rate and all the while the ones claiming to fight for freedoms are actually helping them being stripped away with their blind approval. So many have been brain washed into thinking that we need to either change, do away with or suspend certain freedoms and rights we have been given for the purpose of safety. In truth these beliefs are traitorous values as those who hold them sell the freedoms and rights of others for their personal comfort.

Huh? Where did you get that? It was illegal, but everyone knew it was wrong. This new law changes the game plan. That was a flagrant violation of rights, but this makes provision for that abuse.

I have to agree that what George Bush did was probably the most significant effort towards the destruction of the constitution that any president has ever done. I have never understood why he was not impeached. What makes it worst is that now the liberal agenda has an open door to further its destruction and are doing so full steam ahead.

How are 'they' going to decide who is a terror suspect? How long will it before Conservative Christians qualify for the list?

Maybe, just maybe, they discovered something we are not privied to? It is strange silence, but, once Obama got in the White House, his demeanor on the subject of "quick trials" and emptying Gitmo went dead.

Maybe he's saving this as a campaign promise for 2012? It's always good to have an ace up your sleeve! But that's politics, isn't it??? :tear:
