I wonder if Mermaids & Bigfoot are real creatures, or are mythical created by demonic forces. I am dispensationalist and believe that the devil has the power to create things that do not exist, so its very possible that the Mermaid sightings mentioned below were created by demons.

    What do you say?

I believe it, and this seems to be an idea that Lutzer communicates in his teachings.

How would you defend such a conclusion from Scripture?

First I am having trouble seeing your connection between dispensationalism and this issue. But I find no evidence that Satan does this. We do see in scripture that demons inhabit people and animals that are real and not mythical. Outside of that the op is speculation at best.

Satan may very well use peoples superstition to keep them locked in unbelief but there is no biblical reason to believe that he can create things. As for Mermaids & Bigfoot they are both fairy tails spawned by run away superstition or childish pranks much like UFO's

The devil cannot create anything. He, himself, is a created thing just like a turnip is a created thing.

This is not true at all. Satan (and his workers) can perform real miracles.

Exo 7:11 Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.
12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.

Now, this may have simply been a well performed magic trick, but some of their magic seems to have been real.

Exo 8:6 And Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up, and covered the land of Egypt.
7 And the magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs upon the land of Egypt.

This would be far more difficult. Scripture says that the magicians also brought up frogs upon the land of Egypt. Pharaoh would not be deceived by a few frogs, that is an obvious trick, but if these frogs covered the land as Aaron's did, that would be very convincing.

    But here is why I believe these were real miracles, and not simply magic tricks;

Exo 8:18 And the magicians did so with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not: so there were lice upon man, and upon beast.
19 Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh, This is the finger of God: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.

This is a remarkable passage here, Pharaoh's magicians attempted to bring forth lice but could not. They even told Pharaoh that this was God's work. Now, if these were simple magic tricks, why would these magicians attempt to perform a trick they were not able to do? Why would they be shocked when they could not imitate the miracle performed by Aaron?

So, I believe these magicians were performing real miracles, though they could not perform all the miracles Moses and Aaron performed.

There is also scripture showing that Satan can rain fire down from heaven, and gave "life" to the image of the beast.

Rev 13:11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

Satan has real power, he will cause fire to rain down from heaven, just as he did in the book of Job. He also caused a great wind that collapsed the house of Job's eldest son killing all of Job's children. (Job 1:16,19)

Satan also smote Job with boils. So Satan has real power and can perform real miracles, the scriptures themselves say so.

Satan is not some servant of God as some have said here in the past, he is God's enemy and adversary and has real power. In Revelation 12:7 we see there will be war in heaven, God is not fighting against himself.

You seem to be forgetting that Satan only did to Job what God allowed him to do.

    Consider these quotes, Winman.

"It’s a simple matter of logic: Satan is an angel. All angels were created (Colossians 1:16; John 1:1-3). Therefore, Satan was created. He is, therefore, God’s Devil. Satan is not the equal and opposite power of God (contra dualism). He is not eternal. His power is not infinite. He does not possess divine attributes. In sum, he is no match for God! If anything, Satan is the equal and opposite power of the archangel Michael, but not God."

"The evil Satan causes is only by the permission of God… It would be unbiblical and irrelevant to attribute to Satan (or sinful man) the power to frustrate the designs of God."

"Lest we be “terrified by our adversaries,” it is well to remember that Satan’s power is not inherent but permitted (Rom. 13:1). It is not unlimited, but controlled (Job 1:12; 2:6). It is not invincible, but broken (Luke 11:21-11). It is not assured of success, but is surely doomed (Rev. 20:2-3). Satan knows well that there is no ultimate victory for him. The pronounced sentence has only been postponed. But he works to hinder and postpone Christ’s final triumph. We can rejoice in the certainty of John’s assurance: “Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4)."

"God indeed has the Devil in a chain, but has horribly lengthened out the chain."

    Cotton Mather

“Christ in you, the hope of glory.” I’m not afraid of the devil. The devil can handle me – he’s got judo I never heard of. But he can’t handle the One to whom I’m joined; he can’t handle the One to whom I’m united; he can’t handle the One whose nature dwells in my nature.

    A.W. Tozer

"Satan’s limitations: The first limit is his nature, for he is not able to do anything than that which his natural disposition will permit and suffer. The second limit is the Will of God, for he can do nothing against the Will of God."

I never implied that Satan is equal in power to God.

1 Jhn 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

But this verse does not say Satan is powerless, only that God is greater. Satan has real power, he can perform miracles, the scriptures themselves say so.

Rev 13:14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

Satan is not God's servant, he is his enemy. There will be a real war in heaven as shown in Rev 12:7. God is not divided against himself, a house divided against itself cannot stand.

We see in Daniel that the angel that was sent to Daniel was delayed for 21 days by the prince of Persia.

Dan 10:12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.
13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.

Now, I can't begin to understand this, but apparently there was some conflict or battle between this angel sent of God to Daniel, and this "prince of the kingdom of Persia". And this prince of Persia was able to delay this angel for three full weeks.

So, Satan and his angels have real power, there is a real battle going on, although the Lord will always be victorious.

Now, concerning these "mermiads", I have no idea what this is.

Further, people are making the mistake of believing that all people have a hedge around them as Job did. This is not so. God only promises to protect those "in ALL thy ways", the part of scripture Satan left out when tempting Jesus.

Mat 4:5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Satan was quoting Psalm 91 here, but note what he left out.

Psa 91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Job did indeed have a hedge about him, when Satan said this it was true. But this was because Job was obedient in ALL things to God.

No such protection is promised to those who do not obey God, in fact, the scriptures speak of persons Satan can take captive at his will.

    2 Tim 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Satan doesn't have to get permission to take unbelievers captive, he can take them captive at his will.

So, folks are in error when they teach Satan has to get permission for everything he does. The scriptures DO NOT teach this.

I have no doubt that Satan and his fallen angels (evil spirits) can and do mimic a lot of things--including ghosts and space aliens. If a "ghost" ever visited me, I would ask him or her to say things like "Jesus Christ is Lord of lords, and King of kings." If they refuse to say it, then I would know they were not from God.

Think that the Devil and his demons have been "messing' with mankind since very beginning, as he appeared as a snake to Adam/Eve, and think that his "gang' has mimicked fairies, angels, ghosts, Virgin mary, modern era UFO and saucer peoples!

he adapts to the times in order to draw men away and to get them into his plans!

Actually one interesting thing, we had a guy at our church come and speak about Intelligent Design but he also does talks about UFOs as well. He was saying if you study people's visions of UFO sightings they are extremely similar to ancient accounts of visions of demons.

I agree with you 100% on the spiritual creatures and sightings. I agree with you 98% chance of being right on the UFO. I am still not conviced that it is impossible for intelligent life to manifest itself each from somewhere else that is nothing but a physical occurence.
