I hope everyone will not think me a bigger nut case than you already do, but was wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this while watching Presidential candidates in the last stage of the election?

If one watches their faces, expressions, and tones closely, it is almost like they know they are going to lose or win, and there is no turning back. Regardless of your politics or how you felt about the debates, I have noticed a turn around in this over the last several weeks. It was noticeable in the first two debates, and tonight, at the Al Smith dinner. It is nothing I can put a finger on, but a sense that Obama knows down deep he is going to lose, and Romney knows he is going to win.

I noticed it in the 1980 election in Carter's last few speeches and the last debate. It was also noticeable during the 1992 debates. Bush the First looked like he knew it was over.

Any responses appreciated. To me, this is more telling than all the polls.

I know what you mean. I get the sense that BO thinks he's set to lose, and I'm not so sure that he'd be disappointed.

About a year ago, I started getting the impression that he really didn't want a second term. Body language, stupid political mistakes, things like that.

Panic is the look I saw on the face of Obama when Libya came up.

    Priceless.

I could not watch the debate, so I could not see the body language. However one photograph that I saw of Romney, just after it was pointed out that he was wrong when he said that it was 14 days before Obama used the word terrorist, he looked furious ... as if he was about to lose control. I realize a photo cannot be substituted for body language. I expect Romney is not used to being told he has made a mistake. The top management folk I knew did not "cotton" be being told they had made a mistake.

Crabby is unable to recognize righteous anger.

The moderator overstepped her role by interjecting herself into the debate and was WRONG to boot.

BTW how is it that she happened to have a copy of the transcript anyway?

Obviously it was set up with Obama in advance of the debate.

Tells us volumes about Obama's character and lack of integrity.

The telltale clue was when obama made the statement the other day (I think it was during the 2nd debate), he said "when I was President" (I caught it and thought it to be a Freudian slip.) I'll see if I can find if it is out there on the web. And, SN, I agree with you. Body language and facial expression are more telling sometimes than words.

Edited - Found it: "President Obama spoke of being president in the past tense during last night's second presidential debate with Mitt Romney: "The way we're going to create jobs here is not just changing our tax code, but also to double our exports. And we are on pace to double our exports, one of the commitments I made when I was president. That's creating tens of thousands of jobs all across the country."

More like he was looking at Crowley running interference for Obama. And Romney got it right.
