Look I know this theory will probably get me in trouble with the usual crowd, and who knows they may brand me a racist again for the umpteenth time; nevertheless, nothing ventured, nothing gained. So here goes:

Is it mere coincidence that this new, RARE mystery illness happened to come on scene just about the same time all those illegal children from Central America were being sent throughout the mid-west?

Of course, the government and CDC would never admit this, but it is something to ponder? After all, INS and border guards were complaining about getting I'll from working with these children and young adults; so it is not impossible for the mystery illness to be directly, or indirectly related to the placement of these children throughout the middle states and the origin of this illness affecting American children, especially the very young.

If this were proven to be a fact .... it is one more important reason to stop illegals from coming here; and more importantly for medical screening which is part of LEGAL immigration policy.

What do you think about this possibilty? I'd love to hear ALL sides, good, bad or indifferent

    OFF TOPIC, OFF TOPIC!!!!!

Oops, this is the OP; I guess I've just seen this used so much it just came out automatically!!:smilewinkgrin:

Seriously, this is fodder for the left to SCREAM RACISM, regardless of any attendant facts, sorta in line with your "PC" thread.

This, IMHO, is just one more facet of the ZERO and his Pied-Piperites demolishing of "The American Way"!

You have a point. but the government will never tell, even if they know it to be true.

It's not RARE and it's not a MYSTERY disease.

Enteroviruses, members of the Picornavirus family, are quite common, with more than 100 different types identified. It is estimated that up to 10-15 million enteroviral infections occur annually in the US, with the majority occurring during the summer or fall. The enteroviruses can affect multiple organ systems in the body, leading to respiratory, gastrointestinal, myocardial and central nervous disease. Unlike other enteroviruses, HEV68 only causes only respiratory symptoms.

Unidentified Respiratory Virus Likely to Hit Kids Across Country

A respiratory illness that has already sickened more than a thousand children in 10 states is likely to become a nationwide problem, doctors say.

The disease hasn't been officially identified but officials suspect a rare respiratory virus called human enterovirus 68. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the virus is related to the rhinovirus, which causes the common cold.

According to Mark Pallansch, director of the Division of Viral Diseases at the CDC, similar cases to the ones in Colorado have been cropping up across the U.S. At least 10 states -- Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Iowa, Colorado, Ohio, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Georgia -- have reported suspected outbreaks of human enterovirus 68 and requested CDC support.

It was first identified in the 1960s and there have been fewer than 100 reported cases since that time. But it's possible, Pallansch said, that the relatively low number of reports might be because EV-D68 is hard to identify.

EV-D68 was seen last year in the United States and this year in various parts of the world. Over the years, clusters have been reported in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona and various countries including the Philippines, Japan and the Netherlands.

Central american countries including El Salvador and Honduras are also known to have problems with respiratory illnesses in children.

    Strange coincidence.

Every country on the planet has children with respiratory illnesses. Do these children from Honduras and El Salvador have EV-D68 virus?

Yes, 100 cases is rare but there was an allowance for the possibility that many, many people get this virus but aren't tested for it because they simply think it's a cold.

Not to mention not ONE (count 'em, Zero, Zip, Nada) border state has seen an outbreak. Just another virus that's been around for decades.

But the conspiracy theory nuts will make it into a race issue (those dirty Central American kids!) or a political issue (Obama has opened the borders!) or a vast conspiracy on the part of the Bilderbergers, or the CFR, or the Trilateral Commission, or the Zionists, or the Federal Reserve, or the CIA, or the NSA, or maybe it is a mutated virus caused by HAARP!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

    :applause: Whooeee!!

I have more fun getting you sanctimonious defenders of open borders in an uproar. You turn real nasty in a big hurry. Makes it interesting.

Have you taken in one of those itty bitty defenseless 16 year old MS 13 members yet? I hear the gubment will pay you a tidy sum if you will. Just a rumor, you know.

I wonder where they sent all those "kids" and why they're keeping it a secret.

Never mind. Asking questions like that will cause you to get your bowels in an uproar again. Can't have that. You might turn so nasty you get yourself banned.

I was going to mention this but you beat me to it.

Another thing to consider is the mode of transmission of this virus. The most common method is via feces to mouth (changing a diaper and then not washing your hands) then airborne droplets (sneezes, coughs.)

So if this virus is being spread by illegal child immigrants being sent to detaining facilities, how is the general population of children being exposed to the immigrants?

Not to mention the vast majority of the detention facilities are in California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas and those states have not had a single outbreak of the "mystery flu." But that won't sway the conspiracy nuts. They will believe what they want to believe regardless of the evidence, and will resent being told the facts. So, expect a lot of name calling. :)

Media is Calling it Rare and a Mystery - NO ME :)

"Hundreds of children across America have been sickened in recent weeks by what health officials suspect is a rare respiratory virus." http://www.foxnews.com/health/2014/...ieved-to-have-hospitalized-hundreds-children/

They say it is rare because this normally is an intestinal disease, not respiratory. PLUS, I am only using the terminology used by numerous major news companies, including CNN (a liberal mainstay). If you want to challenge the authenticity of the title of this post, you will first have to challenge the media. I am merely quoting the sources that put the stories out. Below are links (and a mere few) that called it an MYSTERY ILLNESS.

As I said before, you don't have to like me, ITL, but quit acting like a grouchy old man and nit-picking everything I say, when you think, you can find a place to nit pick! Go pick your nose, and quit picking at my OPs ... If you want to debate, fine. Just stop with the toothless, old man complaints, it's unbecoming of you. And again no one is FORCING you to read my posts. You can put me on ignore, and safe yourself tons of grief!

This is my last warning to you to stop reading my OPs if they end up upsetting you. I refuse to accept any personal guilt should you have a stroke or heart attack for the emotional distress I seem to be causing you!

Another Medical Quote, not my view!

"The culprit is believed to be Enterovirus 68 (also known as EVD-68 or Eentrovirus D68), a fairly rare viral infection that can cause symptoms such as coughing, wheezing and low blood oxygen levels (also known as hypoxemia)." http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...lness-that-is-sickening-hundreds-of-children/

ITL - you always say I don't report the info as it is written, and when I do, you go on a hissy-fit. Shame on you for blowing a gasket.

Had to take my son to the ER because he had respiratory problems. Doctor said that he hadn't seen any cases of enterovirus this year and it's unlikely my son had it but he said it typically shows up in late summer/early fall.

Then there was this article in the local paper:

Minnesota is part of a group of states that reports enterovirus cases by their strains to federal health authorities, and has reported cases of the D68 strain in each of the last three years. Late summer is when it commonly pops up, said Doug Schultz, a spokesman for the state health department. But the intensity of the illnesses has surprised health and hospital officials in the Midwest.

    http://www.startribune.com/lifestyle/health/274827861.html

So, I'm sticking with my assertion that this is not a rare virus, nor is it mysterious. I conclude that the reporters in the article cited in the OP are lazy.

    I'll take that iTI....

This as close to an apology from you that I'll ever get. At least you are blaming the source of the info I reported on and not me for sensationalizing the OP. :wavey:

:praying: I am thankful your son was okay. And I pray for all children to be granted His special covering for health reasons. :praying:

It took some research but the border state argument is specious.

The kids were held in isolation until they were scattered all over the country. We don't know where they all went because the Obama administration refuses to disclose their locations.

It wasn't until they were released into the public, primarily to schools, that the virus began to spread. It has begun to be called the Honduran flu by some because it is endemic to Honduras. We all know most of them received no medical screening and now our children are paying for it.

Obama is no better than a common criminal and continues to pressure health professionals, in particular those that work for the government, to hide the facts.

HHS opened three temporary shelters on military bases to handle the large increase in unaccompanied children being apprehended by immigration authorities.

The temporary shelters are at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland (Texas), Fort Sill Army Base (40 miles north of Burkburnett, TX), and Naval Base Ventura County-Port Hueneme, California.
