Many on this board dismiss open air preaching [edited]. Anyways this is not my opinion, or the opinion of Comfort (although Comfort clearly says Jesus was a open air preacher) this is scripture that I am quoting. So whats your excuse now?

    Matt 11:20-24 (NIV)
20 Then Jesus began to denounce the towns in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent. 21 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 22 But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you. 23 And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades.[a] For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day. 24 But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.”

Check it out in your translation of choice.

Was He evangelizing or pronouncing judgment?

And we see in verse 7, he was addressing the crowds - crowds who were listening to Him. He was not speaking to the air or people who were running by but instead people who were there to hear Him. Big difference.

Please post who it is on the Baptist Board who you are accusing of dismissing the bible and its teachings.

He was not evangelizing, He was pronouncing judgment, which only He is qualified to do.

I can't believe you actually compared yourself and your preaching to Jesus. He never abandoned His family. He never divorced His wife with no biblical reason. And He never surfed dating sites in search of his next victim.

Trust me. You are no Jesus.

    OK.

And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues Matt. 4:23

Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. Matt 9:35

Now when He had departed from there, He went into their synagogue. Matt 12:9

When He had come to His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, Matt 13:54

Then they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the synagogue and taught. Mark 1:21

And He was preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and casting out demons. Mark 1:39

And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. Mark 6:2

And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all. So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. Luke 4:15-16

And He was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee. Luke 4:44

Now it happened on another Sabbath, also, that He entered the synagogue and taught. Luke 6:6

Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. Luke 13:10

Jesus answered him, “I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where the Jews always meet, and in secret I have said nothing. John 18:10

    -----

    And what about Paul?

Immediately he preached the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God. Acts 9:20

And when they arrived in Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. Acts 13:5

But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and sat down. And after the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them. Acts 13:14-15

So when the Jews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. Acts 13:42

Now it happened in Iconium that they went together to the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a great multitude both of the Jews and of the Greeks believed. Acts 14:1

Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue of the Jews. Therefore he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and with the Gentile worshipers, and in the marketplace daily with those who happened to be there. Acts 17:1, Acts 17:10

And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded both Jews and Greeks. Acts 18:4

And he came to Ephesus, and left them there; but he himself entered the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews. Acts 18:19

So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. Acts 18:26

And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading concerning the things of the kingdom of God. Acts 19:8

The Lord Jesus (Matthew 5:1; Mark 2:13 etc.), Peter (Acts 3:11-12) and Paul (Acts 16:13) all engaged in open air ministry, as did Jeremiah in his day (Jeremiah 7:1-2) and, of course, Jonah.
I have never done open air preaching in my life as I don't believe I'm called to it, but I'm not about to mock or criticize people that do. All of us are called to engage in evangelism of some sort (1 Peter 3:15; 2 Timothy 4:4-5) so if we're not going to do it in the open air, we need to think how we're going to do it.

The problem with many these days is that they do not share the gospel. Some do it in friendship evangelism which my church is very big on. I personally do contact evangelism and write letters.

You know you create inflammatory posts like this then when people respond you cry foul. What you dismiss is that there is no directive to be an open air preacher. What was done then may not be necessary nor helpful now. Simply saying someone did this is not, in and of itself, a prescription for doing it now. Not sure why this needs to be explained.

Which is evangelism from the cheap seats. It requires no real sacrifice or effort from you. The hard work is done when you sit down one on one with people and give them all the gospel which cannot be done in an instance of open air preaching.

I never said I do not sit down with people and that all I do is open air preaching. YOU assumed that.

No I didn't you have said that in the past, in fact at one time you posted that street preaching was the only correct way to do it.

Wrong I never said that! Contact evangelism is the best way to do evangelism yes. But the word contact evangelism encompasses street preaching, direct witnessing to strangers, and tracts.

That is not what you said. You said you never said that. Your words not mine. Now that I disproved your dishonest claim you back track. You are all over the place. You spend far too much time worrying about how everyone else is wrong and apparently not enough time nailing down you own positions that you can't keep up with your own claims. Slow down, think things through, try to learn something rather than create threads for the purpose of building an echo chamber.
