And right on cue, Trump seems to be getting back on message.

Many ideas, some good & some not so good, emerged from our bipartisan meeting on school safety yesterday at the White House. Background Checks a big part of conversation. Gun free zones are proven targets of killers. After many years, a Bill should emerge. Respect 2nd Amendment!

The only way I would favor raising the age to 21 to own a long gun would be if the age to vote were raised to 21.

Ok, I spent a little time looking at the RCP scores. Things may be looking more favorable than I thought.

Well, if a person needs to be 21 to be mature enough to use a firearm, then of course we should raise the minimum age for military service to 21.

I don't see how one could be logically consistent otherwise.

Why not--you need to be 21 to own a gun unless you are in the military, then you can own when you are 18.

Well, to do it on a federal level, wouldn't you need a new constitutional amendment? Needed one for voting, and that right isn't even directly enumerated in the constitution.

Disappoints me, and makes me think Trump is a gun-control NYC guy after all - I understand it would have kept the last killer from getting a gun but this is just a knee-jerk reaction. The Las Vegas shooter was 68, so set the minimum to 70 to be consistent.

Trump is just gaming the system. The only thing that will pass is bump stock ban and enhanced background checks. The NRA supports both.

Just voted in the Texas primary over the lunch hour. I found it interesting that in a heavily red district, there were three times as many people voting in the Democratic primary than the Republican.

Now that's just a snapshot at one precinct on primary day for about 15 minutes during the lunch hour, but volunteers on the Republican side of the room seemed to have time on their hands, while the Democrats had a steady crowd.

However, that brief and statistically irrelevant observation seemed to correlate to trends throughout early voting that saw many more Democrats at the primaries than in recent years - outnumbering Republicans in some places. Since the Reagan revolution, the Republican primaries have essentially been the real election for state and local candidates, since Democrats have consistently failed to win at the general election, so I think we may be seeing a fatigue or apathy for Republican candidates - incumbent or not.

If nothing else, it seems like Texas Democrats are energized and may actually win some seats during the midterms.

Really? Well, we'll see later on tonight - I'd heard the early voting participation had a big D lead but there are yuge GOP names up that people may not bother to vote for in the primaries. I doubt they will ever be able to take out Abbott, Cruz, Paxton, Patrick although this "Pattterson" could take out George P Bush easily according to the often-wrong polls.

I rhink Donnelly in Indiana will be defeated. He earns money from a family business in Mexico.

In general, I think this election will change little in Congress.

That's not how the military works.

If you're single and 18, you are immature and must keep all personally owned firearms in the unit arms room. If you're 18 and married than you can get paid to live off post and have as many guns laying around as you want.

See the logical consistency of that? :Roflmao

Well, The Whole Notion Of Texas Turning Blue Got Shot To Hell Last Night

still think the Ds have an enthusiasm edge but now wondering about this one:

New Poll Shows Conor Lamb Leading Saccone In Race For 18th Congressional District

guess we'll see if those steel tariffs are all that soon.

Yeah, but be careful of that Donnelly blue dog - he can manage to win races you would think impossible for any Democrat to win. I don't think his opponent helped him nearly as much in 2012 as Todd Akin helped Claire that year, Donnelly is one tough cookie to beat.

This is getting interesting. Looks like Trump will be campaigning and drawing big crowds for Republicans in coming elections. I have a feeling he's going to be very busy as November approaches.
