On all the debate threads about the Ten Commandments and the Sabbath Commandment, the Law of God written on the heart under the New Covenant of Jeremiah 31:31-33 -- what is the ONE point that in the modern age almost all who post agree upon?

Answer: Saturday is the 7th day - the Bible Sabbath

    Exodus 20:10-11
10 .. the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

So while we can find many who want the Ten Commandments nailed to the cross, abolished, or at least have them downsized to the NINE Commandments with one nailed to the cross etc - the one thing that remains common to almost all in these modern debates is that Saturday is the 7th day.

Sunday is "week day 1" - the day that Christ was raised from the dead - making Saturday the 7th day of the week not just by Jewish and Muslim standards but also by Christian standards.

    Luke 24
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.

    John 20
Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. 2 So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!”

    Mark 16
When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body. 2 Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb 3 and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?”

4 But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. 5 As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.

    Matthew 28
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

Jews and Christians keep Saturday as the 7th day - the Bible Sabbath.
Many Christians keep Sunday as week-day-1 - the day Jesus was raised

Wanted to start a thread with almost no opposition that talks about the day of the resurrection... since today (Saturday March 31) is Passover and is the Bible Sabbath. And week-day-1 is tomorrow

Jesus was resurrected first day of the week, sometime before sunrise, and to prove that I wrote an entire study on that timeline here - 3 Days & 3 Nights; & the Last Week of Jesus, Trials, Crucifixion, Death, Burial, Res.

    Here is the summary:

"... [the 7th Day Sabbath of the LORD thy God]

Jesus at Lazarus' house in Bethany [Mt. Olivet] - [John 12:1]- http://www.baptistboard.com/showpost.php?p=2213995&postcount=27

[the first [day] of the week]

Jesus Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem, "the next day" from leaving Lazarus' house, Hosanna! - [John 12:12,13; Matthew 21:10; Mark 11:11], goes to the Temple, and after looking around, leaves, since it was close to evening back out unto Mt. Olivet.

[the second [day] of the week]

Jesus comes back, curses the fig tree, goes to the Temple, and cleanses the Temple for the Second [last] time of the Money Changers - [Matthew 21:12,13,17; Mark 11:12,15,16,17,19], and Jesus goes back out.

[the third [day] of the week]

Jesus comes back, the Fig tree is withered up from the roots, goes to the Temple, and has the final teachings to the Pharisees, etc - [Matthew 21:18,23; Mark 11:20,27].

This was the "two days" before the "Passover" - [Matthew 26:1-2; Mark 14:1; Luke 21:37-38, 22:1].

Jesus tells the Jewish nation, that their house is forever left desolate, no more fruit again - [Matthew 23:37-39; Luke 11:32-35].

Jesus said, that He still had to do "cures" and "cast out devils" "to day, tomorrow and the third day" and be done - [Luke 13:32,33]

Jesus had been "daily" in the Temple - [Matthew 25:55; Mark 14:49; Luke 19:47, 22:53; John 18:20]

[the fourth [day] of the week]

    The "tomorrow" [Luke 13:32,33]

[the fifth [day] of the week]

The "Third Day" [Luke 13:32,33], being done.

[the sixth [day] of the week; preparation]

Gather twice as much, Christ Jesus the anti-typical Manna, Exodus 16:25,26 - See - http://www.baptistboard.com/showpost.php?p=2212950&postcount=17 and http://www.baptistboard.com/showpost.php?p=2212951&postcount=18

The "spices" "had been" [Mark 16;1] purchased sometime after the Crucifixion and before burial so that they could "prepare" [Luke 23:56] them to bring on the "first [day] of the week" [Luke 24:1], even as we see Joseph of Arimathaea doing for the linen - [Mark 14:46] See - http://www.baptistboard.com/showpost.php?p=2213241&postcount=20

Bob Ryan - Thank you for your very short yet proper answer.
One Baptism - I have no ideal what what you were trying to do.

My question - all it needed was a simple yes or no!

    Answering more technically.

The Bible [KJB] doesn't use terms like 'Sunday', neither does it regulate upon Roman time [midnight to midnight], but rather Creation time, evening to morning. Also, depending upon who one speaks with, their definition of morning needs to be clarified, before sunrise, at sunrise, after sunrise, etc. The scripture [KJB] would say that morning is at/after sunrise, yet Jesus rose before sunrise at some point in time.

I was adding to brother BobRyans answer.

I am simply using the terms that are in scripture [KJB]:

Genesis 19:23 KJB - The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.

Genesis 32:31 KJB - And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.

Exodus 22:3 KJB - If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

Numbers 2:3 KJB - And on the east side toward the rising of the sun shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch throughout their armies: and Nahshon the son of Amminadab shall be captain of the children of Judah.

Joshua 12:1 KJB - Now these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other side Jordan toward the rising of the sun, from the river Arnon unto mount Hermon, and all the plain on the east:

Judhes 8:13 KJB - And Gideon the son of Joash returned from battle before the sun was up,

Judges 9:33 KJB - And it shall be, that in the morning, as soon as the sun is up, thou shalt rise early, and set upon the city: and, behold, when he and the people that is with him come out against thee, then mayest thou do to them as thou shalt find occasion.

2 Samuel 23:4 KJB - And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.

Job 9:7 KJB - Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars.

Psalms 50:1 KJB - A Psalm of Asaph. The mighty God, even the LORD, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.

Psalms 104:22 KJB - The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens.

Psalms 113:3 KJB - From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD'S name

Ecclesiastes 1:5 KJB - The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose.

Jonah 4:8 KJB - And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.

Malachi 4:2 KJB - But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

Matthew 5:45 KJB - That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Matthew 13:6 KJB - And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

Mark 4:6 KJB - But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

James 1:11 KJB - For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

2 Peter 1:19 KJB - We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

The sun is also hurling through the second heaven, in is own orbit:

Psalms 19:4 KJB - Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,

Psalms 19:5 KJB - Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.

Psalms 19:6 KJB - His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
Perspectively [that of mankind], it does "rise".

You mean like the German Luther? Jerome's latin vulgate? Spanish? Samoan? etc? Sun rising ...

Genesis 19:23 Wycliffe Bible - (And so) The sun rose (up) on [the] earth, and Lot entered into Zoar.

Genesis 19:23 Bishop's Bible - And the sonne was nowe rysen vpon the earth, and Lot was entred into Soar.

Genesis 19:23 Geneva 1599 - The sun did rise upon the earth, when Lot entered into Zoar.

Or are you referring to a 'sunday' reference? As in the corrupted English texts translated from alexandrian mss, Vaticanus, Sinaiticus, Alexandrinus, etc, by Jesuits [Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini, S.J., - UBS Translations | New Testament etc] and those of the Roman Catholic faith, as the ERV, AMP, etc?

Generally they will either have bracketed 'Sunday', or placed Sunday directly into the text [which is not a literal translation of the Koine Greek text by any means, since it actually reads, Acts 20:7 GNT TR - "εν δε τη μια των σαββατων ...", and so other languages follow similarly, as the Spanish Reina Valera 1960 - "El primer día de la semana ..."'; German Luther, "Am ersten Tage der Woche aber ..."; French Olivetan, "Or ung jour des Sabbaths quand les disciples estoiet assemblez pour ...", and even Jerome's Latin Vulgate, "in una autem sabbati cum convenissemus ..."], or a note or footnote to a similar effect:

"... On the first day of the week: Since the Jewish day began at sunset, the meeting would have begun in the evening. ..." - CEV; Acts 20:7

Technically, bud, Einstein pointed out that motion can be described within the context of "frame of reference" - so that the observer on the earth can indeed state the case as the sun rising.

So then - the Word of God -- holds true even on that point.

Technically, bud, it is still true that what we perceive as the rising or falling 'motion' of the sun is actually the our sight stemming from the rotation of the earth. And furthermore, bud-- technically, of course-- you have stated the case for the Word of God not being technical-- in this particular case, in regard to the 'rising' and the 'setting' of the sun, on which largely your sabbath contentions rely.

Just on a more personal note, as I see technicality:

I would point out that all motion is relative to JEHOVAH Elohiym, the LORD God [even as it was in the wilderness wanderings, God moved, they moved, God was still, they were still]. - even the Sun of Righteousness [Malachi 4:2 KJB], who indeed arises from His throne [Psalms 7:6, 9:19. 10:12, 17:13, 74:22, 82:8; Jeremiah 2:27; Isaiah 60:2 KJB] ... :)

    "... Heavenly Knowledge Will Be Progressive.--All the treasures of the universe will be open to the study of God's redeemed. Unfettered by mortality, they wing their tireless flight to worlds afar--worlds that thrilled with sorrow at the spectacle of human woe and rang with songs of gladness at the tidings of a ransomed soul. With unutterable delight the children of earth enter into the joy and the wisdom of unfallen beings. They share the treasures of knowledge and understanding gained through the ages upon ages in contemplation of God's handiwork. With undimmed vision they gaze upon the glory of creation-- suns and stars and systems, all in their appointed order circling the throne of Deity. Upon all things, from the least to the greatest, the Creator's name is written, and in all are the riches of His power displayed. {AH 548.1}

And the years of eternity, as they roll, will bring richer and still more glorious revelations of God and of Christ. As knowledge is progressive, so will love, reverence, and happiness increase. The more men learn of God, the greater will be their admiration of His character. {AH 548.2} ..." - Adventist Home, 584.1 - 548.2

So the truth of the Word of God is based on frame of reference? Okay, I've got your view on that.
