Has anyone heard that the SBC will not allow persons attending CBF associated churches to teach at SBC seminaries? I heard that the other day and just wondered whether it's correct. I'm not making any value statement here. Just asking for information.

I wonder if part of that is the BFM 2000. CBF will not support that. So where you go to church (and its statement/confession of faith) says more about what you believe (there are usually options) than where you teach at a seminary (most people will fudge for a job). If you can worship at a CBF church, then can you really teach the BFM 2000 at an SBC seminary?

    Just a thought.

The CBF withdrew from the SBC over theological beliefs that define SBC views. They should have guarded the gates even before this issue (which is just a natural digression in the CBF).

Many Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF) churches remain affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) as well. Seems this would only come up if a a faculty member's church were to cease being affiliated with the SBC. Even then, it would not be about the church's affiliation with CBF, but its nonaffiliation with SBC.

Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Unfortunately they are becoming an amalgamation of church and world (not that the SBC isn't, but the CBF is a little farther down the path).

Are they solid conservatives in social and theological areas?

Generally no - thus the reason they formed the CBF.

As stated before, some churches did not leave the SBC, even though they join the CBF.
In addition, some States/Commonwealths now have two State Conventions.
I know Texas and Virginia do have two . I think MO, also.

So many local associations will have SBC and CBF within their associations.

Actually it came up with a church that was dual-aligned. The wife of the pastor teaches at an SBC seminary as he did before going there. The statement was that if an SBC seminary professor attended a church aligned with the CBF they would be fired from their position by the SBC.

They primarily withdrew over politics. It was after the "fundamentalist" takeover of the SBC. Judge Pressler and Paige Patterson were the planners. Both are now thoroughly discredited. The SBC became heavily entwined with the Republican party as was demonstrated in the 2016 election but had been going on for 30 years.

The politics were things like requiring the pastor to be male. This is a pretty standard (now) SBC belief and is heavily theological (from the SBC standpoint...the reason for male leadership goes beyond simple interpretation). And that is only one example.

That said, I also have concerns over the SBC's "position" with the Republican party. While I do not believe one can voice support for the Democrat platform without denying Christ through that agenda, I am concerned that many are substituting Christian political values for Christianity (and ignoring much to fit their faith into a political camp), I don't go to church to attend a GOP convention, but it seems many do.

Some churches may be, but I don't see the CBF as anything close to solid, conservative, or even interested in theology.

At the moment, the Democratic party endorses everything evil. I fully support churches backing the GOP platform.

I agree that the Democraric party is evil. I don't support churches backing political parties.

I support churches backing and endorsing platforms. The attached party just goes along for the free ride.

CBF was formed by the liberals that left the SBC when the conservative resurgence took back the convention.

The SBC fundamentalist takeover wasn't really about theology. It was strictly a political power grab. But now they have elected a moderate as president. It will be interesting to see how that changes things. BTW, Paul clearly addrwesses the role of women in the church.

    Gal 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
