    ἐν τάχει

    Translate that for me.

Is, ἐν, found in the English word, shortly or should it be translated into the translation ?

    BTW: I know, no Greek.

1 Cor 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be < vi Fut Pas 3 Pl) raised incorruptible, and we shall be <vi 2Fut Pas 1 Pl) changed.
Verse 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. In the future.......
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be < vi Fut midD 3 Sg ) brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 where, O Death, thy sting? where, O Hades, thy victory?'

thou dost not eat of it - The power of sin
dying thou dost die.' - the sting of the death, the sin,

BTW IMHO - where, O Death, thy sting? where, O Hades, thy victory - is when the gates of hell (Hades) no longer prevail over the church, which God began building, when he laid in Zion, head of the corner.
Acts 2:31 “he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption.
Acts 4:10,11 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
Col 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

Hank's brother is covered, on both ends.

BTW Satan will be crushed under all our feet, in quickness; In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye,
where, O Death, thy sting? where, O Hades, thy victory

I am also sorry to hear this Hank. The flesh is weak and sickness and death comes to us all. We have a savior though... one that conquers death. Provides entrance to the kingdom. Rest in that friend.

Be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect. Would He tell us that if we couldn’t achieve perfection or is it an encouraging statement to get us to strive for perfection?

Simple FACT is, Satan has NOT been crushed. Sin is just-as-prevalent now as it was in 69 AD, 70 AD, & 71 AD.Acceptance of LBGTQ is nothing new. The Greex had whole units of gay soldiers, who generally led in an attack. There were many well-known gay or lesbian Romans whose "orientation" was known to all, but who were still highly-honored. Theft, fraud, prostitution, crossdressing, & murder were commonplace. About the only sin that has diminished since those days is idol worship.

No, Satan is alive & well, operating 24/7 to deceive sinner & saint alike. He's led more than one saint astray with such false doctrines as KJVO & preterism, while the sinner is just where Satan wants him/her to be. He won't be restrained til Jesus returns & the millenium begins.

And what about the current mesmerism with abortion even post-partum abortion.

How does preterism deal with that abomination?

How can anyone ask O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? when such horrors exist?

He has crushed the head of the serpent by freeing us up to life with Jesus in the kingdom.

You guys are all over the map (with the exception of Percho). You have not dealt with the passage at hand.

When I get the laptop cranked up I will answer more.

Shortly--it will be soon and very soon. Satan is being trampled down everyday underfoot because he is a snake and as ugly as his offspring Sin.

Oh good grief, Hank. Paul asked the question. I just quoted him. Is he also clouds without rain?

It wasn’t prophecy. It was simply an extended good bye. Nothing otherwise is implied.

I can answer this one now. Your other more lengthy post will have to wait till later.

BTW I don't understand your BTW.
    I don't know Greek?
You assume I don't want to get into the Greek?

ἐν τάχει is translated variously according to the context. It certainly means "quickly" in passages such as "Go quickly into the highways and byways" (quoting lazily from memory).

But the phrase also means "in a short time" when the context and/or cross-references demand it. And that is the case with Romans 16:20. Especially when considered alongside passages like 1 Cor. 15:56 and Hebrews 2:14 and 15.

In order to safeguard your theology you reduce Paul's teaching to a bland, insipid wordsoup. We sometimes talk that way. The writers of the inspired Word do not.

Christians as a whole are not in agreement as to what "soon" meant. You may believe that "soon" meant from God's perspective, and interpret it as meaning our modern day. Preterists take the usual literal sense of the word and apply it to mean within a short time. In all other places where "soon", "shortly", etc. are used, we understand those terms in the normal, everyday sense of the word. In the context of the subject, Satan was to be crushed "shortly". While I don't understand exactly what He meant, I trust that Satan was crushed "shortly" after this was written. The most likely time is in AD 70.

That does help. So, if I understand correctly, Satan was crushed when the Old Covenant Law was finally crushed with the destruction of the Temple. Let me know if I missed something.
