Typical deflection, making the bogus claim the right is just as biased as the left.
During Mr. Obama's term, when poor economic news arouse, the prior President was blamed. Now when good economic news occurs, He seeks to take credit.

Both sides have faults, but the godless left is worse, so we should all vote against becoming slaves of big government. Corporations did not murder tens of millions of people in the last century, but the governments of Russia, China and Germany did.

Deflection? Are you in love with typing that word? You use it several times a day.

Where's the deflection? I merely suggested that conservatives would object to Obama having a military-themed Fourth of July, just as liberals complain about Trump having one.

I'm a Trump Supporter. I voted Obama for President about 8 times. (Sorry, I probably lost count.) I see that some people will say bad things about other people simply because they are on the other side.

I would have been for Obama taking up for the U.S., the Republicans at the time sure weren't. I'm not wholly against parades except that marching in a parade is usually not fun. I would hate to be a soldier that had to walk a couple of miles in the heat with everyone's eyes on me waiting to see me mess up or something. I've had to march too many parades.

Most of the parade expenses can be considered "training" and "recruitment". I'd go and see it, but Washington is a 20 hour drive and partly through unfriendly Virginia.

From what I read in the WSJ, Trump was very much impressed by the Bastille day parade Macron invited him to.

    It didn't happen.

My OP says "WHAT IF Obama...."

    It's a hypothetical question.

Obama couldn't have had a parade. Too much of our hardware was broke down.

Trump should just come to the celebration riding on a tank. The critics can't hate him anymore than they do already.

To answer the OP, I think most would have challenged his show as fake patriotism, cited him for his anti-American stance and policies, and accused him of posturing to try to hide the truth. The entire idea of such a positive display was and is antithetical to Obama's aims. He never wanted America to ever be great again, but forever emasculated on the world stage. But with the MSM on his side, he might have been able to swing it in his favor.

Keep this mind. The next Democrat who assumes the presidency will do a complete 180 on Trump's overt patriotism and pro-military/veteran policies. If todays parade was a show of force towards the American people, we would have cause to be concerned. I actually think the Democrats would do something like that instead of Republicans. It is the Left that uses facist rhetoric.

If he was so patriotic and pro military, then what’s progressed with getting the VA up and running ... I’m hearing this little parade will go up to $90 million ( hear say ) but whatever it is, it isn’t necessary... not when you have a National debt.

I’m fascinated by the term “fascist rhetoric”... please explain it more thoroughly.

It is the Left that demonizes people they disagree with. Fascism is an ideology that believes in the total control of society. Political correctness is one of it's spokes. You see this in the social justice movement and in higher education.

Everything I’ve read about fascism points to a far right movement. In Italy, it was the rich big shots that ran the fascism movement.

Fascism arose in Europe after World War I when many people yearned for national unity and strong leadership. In Italy, Benito Mussolini used his charisma to establish a powerful fascist state.

Benito Mussolini coined the term “fascism” in 1919 to describe his political movement. He adopted the ancient Roman fasces as his symbol. This was a bundle of rods tied around an ax, which represented the power of Rome.

Mussolini established the first fascist regime, followed soon after by others, including Nazi Germany. Fascism, however, differed somewhat from one nation to another. Thus, scholars often disagree on a precise definition of fascism. Even so, they tend to agree on its common characteristics such as:

    • Absolute Power of the State: Fascist regimes have a strong centralized state, or national government. The fascist state seeks total control over all major parts of society. Individuals must give up their private needs and rights to serve the needs of the whole society as represented by the state.
    • Rule by a Dictator: A single dictator runs the fascist state and makes all the important decisions. This leader often uses charisma, a magnetic personality, to gain the support of the people.
    • Corporatism: Fascists believe in taming capitalism by controlling labor and factory owners. Unions, strikes, and other labor actions are illegal. Although private property remains, the state controls the economy.
    • Extreme Nationalism: The fascist state uses national glory and the fear of outside threats to build a new society based on the “common will” of the people. Fascists believe in action and looking at national myths for guidance rather than relying on the “barren intellectualism” of science and reason.
    • Superiority of the Nation’s People: Fascists hold up the nation’s people as superior to other nationalities. They typically strengthen and unify the dominant group in a nation while stifling dissent and persecuting minority groups.
    • Militarism and Imperialism: Fascists believe that great nations show their greatness by conquering and ruling weak nations. Fascists believe the state can survive only if it successfully proves its military superiority in war.

What would constitute self-aggrandizing words? I am the greatest president in US history? Our military was weak but now under my leadership is strong?
