The view [interpretation] that it is by the written word of God [alone] in which salvation is by God's grace [alone] through faith [alone] in God's Christ [alone].

The challenge is to give an explanation as to why from the Bible this is believed.

No. It is the actual death and resurrection of Jesus Christ that offers salvation to us and our part in the plan of salvation consists of us believing this. Such a thing (salvation) would still be available even if there was no written word.

Yeah well, we do have the gospel of Jesus Christ. It sounds like someone is not too happy with- (you can not deny the scriptures, nor those doctrines built upon them in TRUTH.)

Of course men are saved by Christ alone. If one were ignorant to the scriptures but knew of Christ and believed in what he or she heard, and received Christ , then of course SAVED . However, we do have a written word, which is in essence our rule book in conduct and knowledge of the kingdom of heaven. From it , men form doctrines that other men adhere to. Sometimes men build doctrines that are false and other men profess their false doctrines.

As much as 37818, wants to play coy, it does not change the fact that truth is not his forte .If one rejects the tenets of the doctrine laid down by Christ in the written Word, he rejects Christ . "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ". That gospel is written DOWN. It is first breathed upon His apostles, and all the anointed who give to us the knowledge of God THROUGH THE WRITTEN WORD. They pass that knowledge to all who are to follow after. The Gospel was first spoken, and upon hearing , you receive . But since Christ is building the kingdom, His decrees are WRITTEN DOWN , that a History may be built and preserved.

The Tree of LIFE.....pen to paper , with each page like a leaf revealing the different seasons of God. It's pages are like the rings of a tree, recording the events of the faith throughout time. God's prophets profess the changes coming.

A FOR INSTANCE: If you only heard of Christ, and say you did not die soon after in some obscure region, with no printing press, or is without men carrying the scriptures in tow, and the Mark of the Beast for example comes upon your shores, would you know NOT to take it? They tell you , it is of Christ's name, would you take it?

Now I would suppose divine intervention would have to happen. Because after all, God is a just God, and could not possibly expect you, who lives on some distant , obscure island ,to know. Then your Thread would make sense. Unfortunately all this thread does is try to deny the authority of the written word, that we all know. Hence why there are theology forums ;).

Ignorance is not a luxury afforded us. This is a SLY Thread:Devilish.;) I am hip to the motive behind it. Unfortunately , certain people can not say "I didn't know".

A person who knows not, the authoritative doctrine ( the scriptures) but only the NAME, can not be an accuser of the brethren, like some people I know. They only know of Christ.

The written word , once received and certain doctrines of men are shown to be nothing but hay, wood and straw, adherence to those doctrines will lead to the burning of the soul of those who made the straw man case and those who drink the straw man's case like Kool-Aid!
    2Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is God breathed and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work.…
    Deuteronomy 29:29
The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, so that we may follow all the words of this law.

    Be careful how you build:Cautious.

No. Mark16:16 says: "Whoever believes AND IS baptized will be saved". This is not just a suggestion, but a command.

    Acts 13: 41
    41‘Look, you scoffers,

    wonder and perish;

for I am doing a work in your days

    that you would never believe,

    even if someone told you.

    Malachi 4:1
For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

First comes the water, then the fire of the Holy Spirit. That's what the scriptures are saying. It's not just faith alone as they clearly tell us.

Indeed they do even without realizing it.

The scriptures are true indeed. They are perfect. Without error.

And although it might be my OPINION scriptures ought to be PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES.

Scripture itself might not teach and hold my opinion.

Can you show me where it says in scriptures as doctrine that SCRIPTURES is our rule book.

The choice is yours uytilyan - Rock or Sand.

    Matthew 7
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Amen I agree Hear the words of Jesus and actually do them. And even you can teach this without writings.

But can you show me where scripture states AS DOCTRINE that scriptures is our rule book?

Ok so scripture is PROFITABLE for instruction in righteousness.

Profitable means Helpful, It doesn't mean required.

He could have said Scripture IS instruction in righteousness, but did not.

I don't think any answer will satisfy you utilyan.

Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

    Yes.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

if you can accept it as such.

    That says scripture is PROFITABLE.

A blanket is PROFITABLE in keeping you warm. That doesn't mean its the only means. You can still wear clothes, a jacket, and have the heater turned on.

Nothing would have prevented God from clearly authoring HERE YE HERE YE the bible is your rule book.

But he never said that. God is a perfect author, clear communicator. If he wanted to teach the scriptures is a rule book he simply would have said so.

". . . Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. . . ." -- Matthew 4:4. That would be the written or otherwise. Do you have some word of God other than our 66 book Bible? There are those who claim so.
