I've seen the photo. There's no defending it.

But what's wrong with a yacht?

Neither the photo nor the yacht bother me.

You are telling me something that already knew. I quite expected your defense of this.

You were all gung ho for the preacher at Louisiana College who told the girls in the chapel service during his "sermon" that they should shave their pubic areas for their men's pleasure.

Why should this photo bother you at all?

That did not bother me either.
Why would this photo bother me?

It would be really easy, from a human viewpoint, to jump all over Jerry Falwell, Jr., for his personal failing in posting such a photo. However, I was reminded of the following in my devotional reading this evening:

“How is it possible that we who have been blessed with eternal love far beyond anything that we ever could have hoped to earn could be so regularly unloving to those around us? How could we ever fail to respond in mercy to others when we have been given mercy that is renewed with each new morning? Why are judgment and condemnation often our more natural responses to the sin, weakness, and failure of others than offering them the same grace that we have been given? Why are we so impatient when the extent of God’s patience with us stands as one of the redemptive miracles of our lives?” - Paul David Tripp, New Morning Mercies

Titus 1:5–7: “This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might . . . appoint elders in every town as I directed you — if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination. For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach . . .”

I realize that Jerry Jr is NOT a pastor - but in a sense he is a pastoral figure to the students at Liberty. Sure, it was a "funny" picture but - it certainly was NOT above reproach for such a Christian leader.

Makes me wonder what their teachings are. Because, being confident in the flesh doesn’t produce maturity. Too many churches adhere to false additions to salvation.

So the backstory is, his wife's friend was complaining she couldn't button her pants due to her pregnancy. Falwell makes a joke saying it's the same with him. Everyone though it was funny, and they took a photo. It didn't look good, nor play as they thought.

This is what we're firing people over now? I support Falwell. He apologized. I'm not worthy enough to cast a stone in this case. I'll skip this cancel culture opportunity.

I just think it was in poor taste. He put it on social media. If something were going on, he would not have done that. If it were a secret leaked photo, I would say hec was hiding something; fire him.
