1/6/2021 video footage?

I can think of two extremely good reasons off the top of my head:

(1) The Capitol building is a high security facility. I've only been there once, July 1977, but even in those days they had rules prohibiting the use of cameras or taking notes as our tour went through the complex. Releasing video footage reveals where hidden cameras are located, as well as providing highly detailed views of the complex (both in and out of public areas) and security procedures that would undermine future security efforts.

(2) There is an ongoing investigation into the attack. A dump of all the video evidence that investigators have would reveal everything the government knows about the persons involved in the assault and their documented activities. This might tip off persons who have not yet been arrested and/or inhibit the ability of the investigators to verify the credibility of the stories of the people they question. If someone is charged, there is a discovery process that each defendant can follow to gain the information they need to prepare a defense.

Julie Kelly should know better.

In my lifetime, I am 78, who has brought more shame to the United States of America?

The people or the government?

Can anyone state without reservation I am proud of our government?

The author's question was rhetorical. Here's her answer:

There’s only one reason why the Justice Department wants to keep the footage under seal: it contradicts most if not all of the claims advanced by Democrats and the media over the past four months.

From the comments:

The video is either exculpatory or embarrassing. What I think the video will show is this:

1) Cops letting people into the building without any fight.
2) Many people that were arrested and held did nothing especially wrong i.e. didn't force any doors or fight with police. Just walked in an open door and walked out.
3) the Capital police and/or lawmakers acting like complete cowards.
4) Poor security, poor planning, poor execution.

The reason the video is being withheld is that it makes powerful people look like liars and idiots.

Worse yet:
1. The cops invited people in.
2. Capitol officers guided people around.
3. Capitol police openly refused to stop violence when people asked them to.
4. The lack of security was on purpose. The execution of the fake insurrection narrative was flawless though.

No, the videos are not being withheld because it makes powerful people look like fools. It's because the videos expose them as the orchestrators of this sham.

The videos from the Capitols invaders themselves demonstrate that the claims of a violent attack upon Capitol Police and shouts of "Hang Mike Pence" are absolutely real -- unless there has been a massive conspiracy by all of the people who have previously claimed for years to support Trump and have had all of their footage created by the late Stanley Kubrick to correlate perfectly together from people all over the country, who moved and acted just like in their manufactured footage, managing to smash the glass, break doors, and defecate in exactly the right places before retreating and posting the footage online. Now those same actors are in court, being prosecuted by the government.

For the vast majority of these people, there's more than enough public footage to demonstrate their crimes.

Hey, we agree on something. I wonder if we agree on who exactly committed the, crime?
We have video evidence. Lots of QAnon people, Trump supporters, "Christians," Proud Boys, Oathkeepers, White Supremacists, and other gullible people. Many left very public documentation of their participation.
A high security area, that security therefor, was rejected. I wonder, WHY?
It wasn't rejected, but there are questions as to why they were not better prepared. Moreover, there are major questions as to why President Donald Trump would not authorize the National Guard to go in and assist, and why he told the protestors that "he loved them" when he finally issued a statement to them. He, of course, was the person who set the date for the rally, worked everyone up with a speech, announced their march to the Capitol (falsely claiming he would go with them -- a statement that says they are going with his authority), and then sent them on their way. He went back to the White House and watched the whole thing unfold with great interest and refused to intervene for several hours.

So we need to get down to the bottom of the situation.
