Not getting into Senator Obama's or Senator McCain's qualifications to be president - in electing a president for the United States our primary, if not sole concern, should be how the interests of the United States will be affected, not the interests of Israel, the United Kingdom, France, or any other nation.

There are primary and secondary issues to consider when deciding on a candidate. And those who would oppose such considerations most often have no problem with the thought of Israel being wiped off the face of the earth.

It is sad that anyone would think that way. The wiping of any nationality off of the face of the earth is not something that a reasonable person would advocate or condone.

"America most always stand up for Israel to defend herself "

My goodness! Obama made himself crystal clear and our traditional and strong stance will continue. I don't agree with a lot of Zionists they are the neo-cons of Israel the average Israeli on the street wants to live in peace and broker a deal to have such. In concluding , do you realize how many Jewish democrats there are? and how Obama will lean on them for advice and they will lean on him if they see him move to far off center. Obama is a lot brighter than the dim bulb we have in the White House now, Obama would actually seek advice from the best of the Jewish Americans that will be around him.

I disagree with the OP I think the traditional stance on Israel stands and the OP
is playing politics in our nation based on their selfish goals.

Yup, our traditional stance of welfare-style support, and giving money to her enemies that always comes back in the form of bombs & rockets, at the same time, encouraging land for peace deals, dead soldier for live prisoner exchanges, all with a little elbow grease from the U.N., whom we also prop up with American taxpayer $ .....

I expect it all to continue unabated.

    Emphasis mine

Precisely!!! One of the best reasons in the world for us to continue to support Israel!

The best is because God has stated that He considers Israel the apple of His eye, and those that bless Israel will be blessed, and those that curse Israel will be cursed.

We have prospered as a nation, IMHO, because our past has been a blessing to Israel, but now with the "Road map to peace", and the pressure to cede land etc., we're becoming a curse to Israel, and we WILL fell the WRATH of God for that change.

And this is God's word, not mine!!!!

I very much agree with your scriptural way of looking at this issue. Too many Christians really adopt the world's way of looking at politics, as if somehow one has a "private life" of Christian values and yet approaches "public life" with secular values.

Having said that, I think that it is a misreading of Scripture to think that God still wants us to give any preferential considerations to Israel. I think that the New Testament teaches that all the promises to Israel have been fulfilled in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

So, for example, I do not believe there is a "promise yet to be fulfilled" about Israel getting the Holy Land. In 1948, there may have been some legitimated reasons to give the Jews a homeland, but I believe the Scriptures make no representation that this is the divine intent.

If God wants Israel to exist then let God defend Israel, not American tax payers. It would be an interesting test (investigation <G>) of God's intent.

If God wants the wife to be delivered from the wife beating her then let God deliver her. It would be an interesting test fo faith.

Well RM, we finally agree on something - I heartily endorse your sardonic remark here.
