Here is a praise song i wrote that means alot to me. Lemme know what you think.
"Watch Over Me"
Why do they curse You
Why do they mock Your holy name
Why do they put, th burdens of there problems on You
When You're not the one to blame
Jesus, my Jesus
Watch over me Chorus
Jesus, my Jesus
Watch over me
Its amazing, this mystery
My pride in pieces on the floor
I humbly come, and lay down all my shame
I surrender all to You Lord
Its amazing how much You care
You died on Calvary
I didn't deserve it, but You took on all my burdens
So I could be with you for all eternity

Guitar25,
I salute you. Not many, including myself, have the guts to post some of their own material here for others to scrutenize. I'd like to hear your song sometime. It looks good to me. Keep writing and singing for Him! To His glory!
In His Grip,
joshua -
I'd love for you to record it, (even with a computer mike would be okay), and post it on the net so we can listen to it! Keep up the good work!
-
Nice lyric.
-
Appreciate the good words/testimony. Glad to see you here on the Music Forum!
-
Thanks all.
Well my band just quit on me which really sucks so I am on my own, sorta. A friend of mine, Pete, is a drummer so i have a drummer. all i really need is a bassist. But N E ways, we may be making a CD pretty soon so i could try to download it into the net after the net was made. -
G'day Guitar25 Love the song mate! Joshua took the words out of my mouth...er...keyboard What sort of music style you have on that one?
Here is an attempt I made. It was finished, but just looking at it again I see a few changes needed, so consider it a work in progress
(Chorus) Holy holy holy is the LORD God Almighty, the whole earth is filled with His glory
All praise and glory, wisdom thanks honour power strength, be to God forever and ever
Jesus shed His blood and died on the cross to take our sin and death
To give us His life, and His holiness
He arose from the grave and ascended to the Father's right hand
And all the angels sing this song of praise to God and to the Lamb
We go into the world proclaiming His Name and all that He has done
The victory over sin and death through Jesus has been one
We declare His grace to all who will hear and until He comes again
May we live our lives as a song of praise to God and to the Lamb
Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord
The Alpha and Omega, God's Faithful and True Word
And before God's throne all who are His shall rejoicingly stand
And forever sing this song of praise to God and to the Lamb
...now we have to wait and see one of Joshua's originals
Pete
Oh, BTW, I flame enough songs here, so everyone feel free to blast mine -
The music is simply Acoustic Guitar
-
Here's one of mine - no one laugh, please: (note it refers to lifting of hands. I happen to think such things are okay by God...)
You sent us the Messiah
Jesus Christ the King
To suffer at the hands of man
To give us everything
For You we owe all we are
Praise be to You alone
You welcome us as we come
To kneel before Your throne
Approach the throne
Of the God of creation
As we lift our hands
And bow in exaltation
"Worthy is the Lamb
To receive honor and glory and our praise"
Singing, "Holy, holy, holy"
To the Ancient of Days
The Alpha and Omega
The Lion and the Lamb
The Eternal and the Sovereign One
Adonai, the Great I AM.
We who are your children
We come before You now
Resting here in Your presence
As at your throne we bow
Approach the throne
Of the God of creation
As we lift our hands
And bow in exaltation
"Worthy is the Lamb
To receive honor and glory and our praise"
Singing, "Holy, holy, holy"
To the Ancient of Days -
Awesome you guys! Just awesome!
Let the praises of God be continually upon our lips! -
Guitar25, I sort of imagined it as an acoustic style song Nothing "simple" about simply acoustic though :D
Scott, who's laughing? Fantastic song mate!
Did someone on board mention a problem with raising hands? Have I been asleep again and missed something?
Pete -
Ok, I'll offer two of my own. One finished, one almost finished. "Clean Heart" is the first song I ever wrote, and I thought it would be the chorus of a bigger song. I've never gone further. It's sung as a prayer, and my church sings it frequently, often at their own request.
A Clean Heart
Joshua Rhodes (C) 1998, 2002 TwiceBorn Ministries
Create in me a clean heart,
And set me as holy and pure.
Give me the desire to relinquish my will,
And wholly surrender to Yours.
Break me, then make me a vessel for You,
So that in my life others may see
The glory of Jesus Christ, the Son,
Is the glory that shines in me.
We are hoping to finish the music to this one soon. We wanted to write something that was more than just a verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/chorus type song. We decided on the verse-only approach, with a linear theme approach. Hope you like it.
What Grace is This?
Joshua Rhodes and Kenny Johnston (C) 2003 TwiceBorn Ministries
What grace is this that pardons sin, covers iniquity, saving all men?
What grace is this for sin outpoured that paid the debt I can’t afford?
O grace of God so full and rich, His praise is ever on my lips!
Grace reaches out and calls me home; blood of the Lamb for sin atones.
What mercy hangs upon a tree, enduring nails and thorns for me?
What mercy wills to take my place and pays the price for my disgrace?
Eternal life in endless day replaces death of sin’s dark wage!
Mercy restraining judgment’s hand, revealing grace in which I stand.
What love is this that has a home inside a heart once made of stone?
Until the day I long to see: when Jesus Christ comes back for me!
In heaven’s halls I’ll join the throng of saints and angels at the throne!
Because of grace, mercy and love, I have a heavenly home above!
Forevermore in paradise, I’ll worship ‘round the throne of Christ! -
That looks like a hymn to me....throw an old organ on there and maybe Enda would even like it...?!
-
Thanks Yod... "What Grace" is rather hymn-like. "Clean Heart" is not... more acoustic guitar-y.
-
WOW! again :D :D Great Joshua!! Love them both. I can't wait for the first Baptist Board jam session.
How about we all get together and put the rest of the clowns out of business?
Actually that should be "you all get together", because 1: I am on the other side of the planet, and 2: on a scale of 1-100 (1 = worst, 100 = best) my guitar ability rates about a 7  :( I have some nice gear though, could lend that to the 'supergroup'
Pete -
Pete, you're kind. Actually, that BB jam session sounds like alot of fun. Maybe we could get you some frequent flyer miles, Pete!
-
Let's see - quick rundown of what we play:
I can play the keys, the acoustic, the electric, and the bongos. If we want to do a ska number, I can play the trumpet or trombone.
Who else do we have? -
I play keyboard and piano (two different instruments) and I sing. My other bandmates, one plays all manner of hand percussion, the other plays acoustic guitar. Anyone else?
-
I also play the Keyboard harmonica, or melodica. Don't ask... it's a long story.
-
Can play a bit on acoustic guitar, a bit more on a Strat, a lot less on 12 string (ow! )
I cover up the fact that I can't play by plugging in through a Zoom 505II.
I amplify the fact that I can't play through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 40W? Yeah, right! :D
I can get away with playing in front of people as long as they know nothing about guitar
Pete
