This Sunday, April 13, my church will celebrate its 150th anniversary! We have planned a big day starting at 10 a.m. We will not have Sunday School. The governor has sent us a nice certificate. The mayor will present us with a proclamation. The historical society of our state convention will present a certificate, along with a representative from the convention who will present a certificate. Several elected officials from our city and county will attend.
Two former pastors will be present and will have about 5 minutes on the program. One other former pastor has provided a DVD with some words to the church. I am sure many former members will be present.
Our Minister of Music has planned an awesome music program. The program for the day has been divided into three themes: Honoring Our Past -- Building Our Present -- Planning Our Future. Following the 2-hour worship service we will have a catered lunch.
For months, I had planned on preaching a challenging message regarding our future since we are about to begin another building program. However, it seems the Lord has led me to simply preach about Jesus. What better subject could there be?
Just wanted to share this news with the group.

A Great Day!
My, what a glorious day we had! All the glory belongs to Him. The house was packed. We received plaques/commendations from our mayor, governor, state convention, Baptist historical society, and local association.
Two former pastors were in attendance and two former staff members were present. Several former members attended.
The music was awesome and glorifying to God. We enjoyed worshipping through traditional hymns, southern gospel, contemporary, and our youth band was phenomenal.
I preached a message using the subject "It's All About Him."
We had a catered lunch and served over 300 people.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. I hope all of you who will be celebrating milestone anniversaries in the days ahead will enjoy the event as much as I did this one. REJOICE! -
