Barnes ReviewThe ‘Reconquista’—Mexico’s Dream of ‘Retaking’ the Southwest
By John Tiffany
Some Mexicans and Mexican-Americans want to see California, New Mexico and other parts of the United States given to Mexico. They call it the “reconquista,” Spanish for “reconquest,” and they view the millions of Mexican illegal aliens entering this country as their army of invaders to achieve that takeover. To an extent, they also have actual armed soldiers of the Mexican army, along with mercenaries from North Korea, Russia and other communist or former communist lands, and have already fired upon American Border Patrol officers and terrorized American ranchers. Shockingly, certain politicians in America are willing to sell out to the Mexicans.
http://www.americanpatrol.com/MECHA/AZTLAN.htmlChicanos call the seven states of the Southwestern United States Aztlan. Its roots stem from a mythical land which the Aztecs supposedly once occupied north of Mexico City. In the modern context, Aztlan is the territory ceded to the United States by Mexico as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo of 1848. Mexico agreed to the settlement and the U.S. paid for the land.
Aztlan is the "A" in MEChA - Movemiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan - The student movement of Chicanos of Aztlan...one of the largest student movements in California...
The preamble of the MECHA constitution reads:
"Chicana/Chicano students of California must take upon themselves the responsibilities to promote Chicanismo within the community; as well as politicize our Raza (Race) and continue the struggle for self-determination of the Chicana/Chicano people and the liberation of Aztlan"

The following is from the October, 1996, VCT newsletter:
1995 Textbook Calls for Liberation of Aztlan
SANTA BARBARA...Oct 12...Santa Barbara County has adopted a textbook which calls for the "liberation of Aztlan" by Chicanos. The book, The Mexican American Heritage, will be used for high school "Chicano studies" throughout Santa Barbara County.
According to a review of the book by Debora L. Sutherland of Santa Barbara, the book introduces the concept of "Aztlan" in the first chapter and from that point on uses the term to mean the seven states of the Southwest which were ceded to the U.S. by Mexico in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848.
"The book consistently questions the validity of our existing border with Mexico," Sutherland wrote." It also makes it very clear that with the continuing influx of Latinos into the Southwest along with their high birthrate, these so-called 'natives' will realize their power to control Aztlan once again."

The Nation of Aztlan (NOA), first organized in the early 1990s, is a California-based Hispanic nationalist organization that claims to represent the desires and aspirations of the Hispanic community. The organization calls for the United States to return "Aztlan" territory - Aztlan being the mythic homeland of the Mexican people, or Aztecs, which according to legend is found in the American Southwest or Northern Mexico. The group's nationalist message is blurred by frequent appeals anti-Semitism, anti-Zionism, homophobia and other expressions of hatred.
It would even be a presumption to assume they all broke the law to get here. Most migrant workers who are here illegally came here legally. That is, they came here on a temporary work visa, and the visa expired. The majority renew their visas, since they can't get legitimate work without one, but many do not. Those who do not are breaking the law.Originally posted by poncho:
Your quite right Johnv, we shouldn't assume that every migrant worker is here illegally. But, I think it's safe to assume that all illegal aliens are here illegally and giving them respectable labels doesn't change the fact that they broke our laws to come here and we shouldn't pander to law breakers.
That was my point, not well made perhaps.
Oh please, not the old "Aztlan" arguement. That has about as much weight as those who proport that Jews own the banking industry. It's a racist notion, plain and simple. I don't think you're racist, so I'm surprised that you would subscribe to an idea that feeds on racism.Originally posted by LadyEagle:

Maybe were you are from you do not deal with this issue as much as were I am from, but in the Riverside School system, there are many non-citizen children attending school, in fact my gardener who is not a citizen, and has been deported a couple of times , but always manages to find his way back, has 3 school age children attending our schools, on our tax money, not to mention an entire nieborhood of illeagles, that stand on the corner every day, that you can hire for $3.00 an hour to do various labor, most of them have kids going to school on our tax dollars.Illegals cannot join schools-birth certificates (aka identification with the U.S.) is required for entry into the public school system. Therefore, the extra money that is being spent trying to teach the Spanish-speaking kids English (so they can function in the U.S.) is actually being spent on Americans!!! They have every bit as much right being here as you do.
I said we are second class citizens in our own country, why does everyone have to play the racist card, when ever the topic of illeagle aliens comes up, I have nothing agianst Mexican-Americans, who went through the proper channels to live here, and denouncing thier loyalty to Mexico, and embracing America. What language is the constitution writen in, what language is printed on our money, what language are you required to learn to get a citixzenship in the United States, and what langue is "united we stand, divided we fall" written in? By speaking a forien language it divides the United States, a divided country is not a melting pot. Our National language is officaly English, when you drive you car, and see a road sign, what language is it writen in?And why do you have to make them out to be second-class citizens? I think you are sounding racist. Here in the U.S., we do not have a national language. Therefore, Spanish is just as acceptable as English is. It would be different if our national language was officially English, but it's not.
Who's persicuting ? I am only defending my freedom brother, I am not seeking out to kill, or stamp out Mexicans, I am only trying to hold up the values of the people that have a right to be here, and the people that came here leaglely, even Biblicaly this is correct to: "obey the laws of the land", is it not? It is no harder being Hispanic, than it is being white, or black, or fat, or skinny, or christian, or tall ,or short, ect..So why is it fair to persecute those people that grew up only knowing Spanish? The Spanish-speaking AMERICANS have enough hardship as it is, having to face persecution for being Hispanic. What right to we, as fellow Americans, fellow people, and Christians have to judge them too?
Huh? Don't know where you get your information!Originally posted by JesusInFirstPlace:

http://www.fairus.org/Research/Research.cfm?ID=1270&c=54Educating Illegal Aliens Costs States $7.4 Billion a Year
States are spending $7.4 billion annually to educate illegal alien students-enough to buy a computer for every junior high school student nationwide, finds a startling new FAIR report.
In some states, the amount of money spent to educate illegal alien children accounts for a substantial portion of the state budget shortfall; in New Jersey, for instance, it accounts for 28 percent of the total state budget deficit.
Breaking the Piggy Bank: How Illegal Immigration is Sending Schools Into the Red points out that with states straining under gaping budget shortfalls, public schools throughout the country are facing some of the most significant decreases in state education funding in decades. In some states, drastic cuts mean lay-offs for teachers, larger class sizes, fewer textbooks, and eliminating sports, language programs, and after-school activities. Nearly two-thirds of the states have cut back or proposed reductions in support for child care and early childhood programs. Some are even shortening the school week from five days to four.
AHHH, to be young and nieve, must be nice, wait till you get into the real world bro, everyone is hated equally, hardship is something everyone deals with , nomatter how rich or poor, or black or white, in fact God will see to it that all of us will face times of desperate need, inorder to have us grow, and to excellerate, and expand his pourpose for us. You'll see.Originally posted by JesusInFirstPlace:
And as far as persecution goes, Hispanics do have it harder than the average white person does. It would be nice if everyone really was on equal footing, but it's not that way. That's even a bit too idealistic for me! LOL.
