On the one hand he is "religious", conservative, and would probably be "on our side" regarding many issues that we hold dear.
But on the other hand, he is a full blown member of a full blown cultic group.
What do you all think? Good or bad?
A Mitt Romney presidency, good or bad?

The Mormon thing isn't that big of a deal for me...if he wants a planet with 100,000 virgins and his wife after he dies rock on. Just make sure you tell the American public you believe this.
As a President (well he won't get elected) he'll keep on keeping on with the same establishment system already in place. Abject failure...that what American politics is bringing. -
I am one of God's sheep, so I say it would be baaaad! :D
-
If he loses the nomination to Rick Santorum, I wonder if folks here would have a similar issue with his Catholicism.
-
Note to those who are cognizant of the action: Our President has never stopped campaigning and virtually every move he makes is politically motivated, including this last one. He is preempting the conversation and thinks it is a winning issue for him.
I'm waiting for the REAL backlash as RC bishops and priests explain what THEIR preferred leader is doing to THEIR church (and by inference to the rest of us as well). The man on the street is rather up in arms over the whole issue, but that never does translate to the Blue State major media markets. -
Compared to Obama = good.
Compared to a true conservative = bad. -
Would go for theOne that clearly has the Christian social/economic agenda, and to me that is the RC candidate Rick! -
-
As nutty as his religion is he would be by far better than the President.
-
Know a person at work who claims to be a "good catholic", and though she is one, knows of Rick being a conservative one of her church, adament for the president!
Another person at work claims to be a christian, but belives pro choice, and again for Obama...
Wonder how many catholics/christians will go on denying their faith to vote for Obama! -

I do not think we, evangelical Christians, should sell Mitt short. We had a solid Christian President, G. W. Bush, and he gave us two great Supremes. The lefties waited until he left office, then trashed no child left behind. He did not veto anything so spending went up as if a moderate Democrat had been elected.
Mitt will be ok on the social issues, and better on the economic issues than Bush. So if we got a majority of Americans to vote for Bush, Mitt could be elected too. If we do not take control of the Senate, and keep the house, things will not actually change, unless God willing, we have a Republican President who gets to replace one of the four liberal ones. -

No Child Left Behind should be trashed because it is.
President Bush ended up being a mixed bag, though his Supreme Court vacancies are truly filled with good decisions and some of his social policies are good ones his overall administration was unprincipled and distracted from its central task of effective governance.
If Romney was able to win he would do worse, though the looming Supreme Court vacancies would be taken care of well. -
No Child left behind was a great program, that phased in over several years, so grade by grade students could be brought up to speed. But when it was time for the rubber to meet the road, the schools failed and then the Unions blamed the program, rather than the incompetent performance of the unionized education system. The program would have highlighted the non performing schools and ultimately addressed the non-performing teachers and teaching methods.

Mitt will be better than Obama. At least he is a businessman and not a community organizer. Not all Mormons are alike just as all Baptists are not alike. There are different stripes. And at least he isn't a muslim.

Now the "experts" saying that if Mitt loses his home state, that it looks like it will probably be Rick against the president this fall! -

I'd like to see Mr. Santorum vs President Obama. But what do I know? I wanted to see Mr. Huckabee vs Mrs. Clinton (just to hear Mrs. Clinton say 'your being governor of Arkansas does NOT qualify you to be the leader of the free world, Mr. Huckabee').
I get about as excited over Romney as I do rice cakes. Sure, he has money but my hunch is that he is the man the media wants to put up there against Obama. We're doomed no matter what. -
I hate to quote a Foster Friess joke considering the backlash of his most recent one (aspirin), but it sums up Mitt beautifully: A liberal, a moderate, and a conservative walk into a bar. The bartender says Hi, Mitt! He sways with the wind and there is no way I buy he is pro-life.
