My daughter just walked into the living room and said "Dad, cancel my
allowance immediately, rent my room out, throw all my clothes out of the
window, take my TV and stereo and iPhone and iPod and my laptop.
Please take all of my jewelry to the Salvation Army or Cash Converters..
Then sell my new car, take my front door key away from me and
throw me out of the house. Then disown me and never talk to me again.
And don't forget to write me out of your will and leave my share to my brother."
Well, she didn't put it quite like that.. she actually said...
"Dad I have decided to work for Obama's reelection campaign."
When I was a driving instructor - I would often get on politics with my teen students.
I would ask them if they were R or D.
Usually they would say "D".
When I asked them why - the normal answer was "Because my dad is a "D"
I specifically remember one young lady who said she was a "R"
When I asked why - without hesitation - she replied "When I got my first paycheck ans saw how much money they took out in taxes I become a Republican.!
So what your daughter is doing is right up there with making a major sacrifice for a losing cause. You may need to coddle her and encourage her as the election gets closer. I'm sure depression will eventually beset and get the best of her, so stay close to her side (agree or not), she will need you when his re-election attempt comes :tonofbricks: down!
I often would give an excellent example to the kids who think the govt should handle our lives.
Suppose you take a brand new job for $5 / hour
after 1 month you pass probation and now make $5.25/hour
after 4 months you get an excellent rating and now make $5.50/hr
after 6 months you get a promotion and now you make $6 per hour.
The next month the govt raises the minimum wage to $6.50 per
(student) wow, that is really good!
the next day, the boss hires a brand new employee - that you must train - of course he will make the minimum wage is $6.50 - the same as you now make.
(student)
Hey, thats not fair
Welcome to the real world!
Arent you so glad you are a Liberal?
You might want to go ahead and do all those things she did not say. Just joking.
I am not poking jabs here, but honestly she sounds very confused in her spiritual life to want to support this President. I will pray for her.
I thought your OP was funny Stilllearning.
You had me right up until the end!
For those wanting to debate, you need to relax and enjoy some humor once in awhile.
We don't have to argue about everything just because we're Baptists.
