You all remember as a kid when you got in trouble your Mother used your entire name to call you out and let you know she meant business. I, as a conservative, mean business about Barack Hussein Obama would be nothing but trouble for our Republic. He's the most liberal member of the Senate, he foolishly says he would sit down with every communist or terrorist leader, much like Jimmy Carter has made a fool out of himself doing, and he has no experience, zip, nada. Nobody took me up on my offer on another thread to tell me any meaningful legislation he has introduced in Illinois or Washington. He's just a charming man that has all of the libs and college students in euphoric nirvana. So I'm calling him out today. Barack Hussein Obama does not deserve the nomination or the Presidency. Our country can do better. Andre, elect whoever you want in Canada and let your American neighbors tend to their own business!
American politics affect the world, and I have no problem with Andre commenting on politics here, just as I will observe and comment on Canadian politics if I please. Who appointed you the cop over who can have an opinion on this board?
You probably don't even know who the Canadian Prime Minister is, much less about their politics. You and Andre go ahead and make your comments. It reminds me of the Abraham Lincoln quote, "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."
Baloney! You have just proven Lincoln right, but not in the way you meant to! FYI, Stephen Harper is PM, and I didn't have to look it up. I have followed Canada's politics since the Trudeau and Mulroney days, and regularly read Macleans and other Canadian media. So I think you may want to quit making a fool of yourself.
When your agenda is to redistribute wealth, take from one to give to another for the common good then the shoe fits. It is evil and needs to be defeated.
Thanks for the laugh MP. You're like the little kid on the school playground that tries to one up the other guy by using what he did to rip you. Anyway, keep believing that the government can solve all of the world's problems and that a liberal novice has all of the answers. Oh yeah, glad to know you know something about Canadian politics. Maybe you ought to consider moving there. Just a suggestion.
Sorry Cutter, but the USA belongs to Liberals as well as Conservatives. I love Canada, but I also love and served the nation of my birth, and will continue to do so, even when patriotism means speaking out when her leaders take her down a misguided path.
Well, someone needs to stand with Muslims when they are persecuted for simply being Muslims due to the anti-Muslim bigotry that, sadly, even Christians have given into.
You may be surprised to know that I actually agree with something I believe you said in an earlier post about how the candidate's faith is important. I agree wholeheartedly with this and I would definitely be inclined to vote for a candidate who has declared membership in Christ's worldwide family and appears to embrace the Kingdom of God that Jesus taught.
Nevertheless, in the case of Mr. Obama's middle name, I think the connection to Islam through the middle name is just too weak. We have the candidate's words and actions to judge him, so why connect him to Islam through his middle name? The fact that he emerges from an Islamic background is too vague and open-ended.
Let me illustrate how unreliable this would be. Suppose there are two candidates: Fred Hussein Jones and Steve Hussein Smith. Both candidates come from "Muslim backgrounds". In the case of Fred, he was steeped in intense Muslim ideology, even some extremist stuff. Steve, on the other hand, grew up in a purely nominal Muslim environment where people basically identified themselves as Muslims, yet really ignored the ideology.
As you know, there are many "Christians" who are nominal in that sense.
In the case of Fred, perhaps the reference to the middle is indeed informative. But in Steve's situation, it is highly misleading. So, on balance, I still think that the use of Mr. Obama's middle name is not a responsible way to make the case that his values have been informed by Muslim ideology.
Instead, we should look at his actual background and what he says and does.
Muslims are persecuting Muslims. Muslims are responsible for world wide persecution throughout history up until this present day. Cite one example in one single country where Christians are persecuting Muslims en mass in 2008. You can't so your premise and defense of Obama's statements is absurd.
As other posters have noted, who you elect as President is very much my business.
The actions of the US government have profound global implications, given the (present, anyway) military and economic might of the USA.
But, a more important point is that we who claim the name Christ are members of a single worldwide family - if you know Paul's writings, this will not be news to you.
It is very much the business of the family members to talk to each other and encourage each other in pursuit of the Kingdom of God that we should all be building for.
We are citizens of this Kingdom first and Americans, Canadians, whatever, a distant, distant, distant second.
If your idea of encouragement is for me to vote for, or to endorse, Barack Hussein Obama as my President, no thanks! I can make up my own mind. I do not need you or any other [personal attack snipped] liberal to tell me to vote for a closet muslim. Now if you care to expound the scriptures or teach me the Word of God, I'm all ears. And don't try to justify your opinions as teaching God's Word. We are taught to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.
Your on a christian board, not a false god believing muslim board. if you believe in supporting muslims your on the wrong board. I am anti anything that is anti Christ.
We constantly see on the news where it is muslims bombing and killing muslims, not christians bombing and killing mulims. In what country are christians torturing and killing muslims if they refuse to convert to christianity? But there are countries where muslims are torturing and killing christians trying to make them convert, even chriatian raised children. Is this what you support?
I don't expect you to want proof, but here it is anyway for anyone who really cares about truth.
This level of "discourse" - with the name-calling and the rhetoric - is precisely not how Kingdom-building Christians "do politics". Besides, you don't need to be theologian to know that the following is indeed true and a valid rebuke of some of your earlier efforts to stifle opposing positions:
A kingdom building christian will not support antichristian beliefs, such as murdering babies, or approval of homosexuality. they do support the word of God in these matters.
I never said that Mr. Obama was a kingdom-building Christian.
I made what I think was a valid comment about the way another poster - not Mr. Obama - was engaging in the discussion.
