What we are remembering are the days as they were when McCain was becoming involved in politics and both major parties had a mixture of centrists, liberals, and conservatives, which enabled various coalitions to come together and work on problems and try to solve them together. This was before the American people divided up into two tribes politically and decided that victory meant the total political annihilation of the other tribe. So a lot of the eulogizing went beyond McCain to the loss of that kind of politics.
The Counter Culture revolution of the 1960s is what happened. Started in the U.K. Came to the U.S. Communists seized upon it, and have been single mindedly focused on destroying the American way of life since then.
What people have woken up to, and hopefully not too late, is that this is indeed a fight to the death.
Right now it seems to be comign to a head, as the Lord ius using trump to divide this nation right down those who walk in darkness, and those in the light!
I was only joking about Alan Bean, but didn't find anything about a thirty-day rule on the BB. However, when looking in the sticky threads I did find this one about Editorials and OP Eds. Based on it this thread probably should be moved to the politics forum.
It's more like common law. The thirty-day rule on speaking ill of the dead. Came about at the home going of Billy Graham. Hence, it's nickname the Billy Graham rule.
Most of the negative things I've said about Billy Graham and John McCain I said while they were alive. In this case I posted a link that I thought people would find interesting to read.
