How do you know that you are not voting for a closet socialist? With Romney you really have no idea who you are voting for as he has taken stances on both sides of every issue during his political career and has been
waffling back and forth during this election campaign.
All of this talk about socialist points out that most people on the board have no idea about what socialism is about or who socialists really are.
You're right. The author of the article must be an accomplished mind-reader, what with quotes like this:
Romney also covertly disclosed that he has every intention of cutting taxes on the rich. Here was Romney on Tuesday: "I will not under any circumstances reduce the share that's being paid by the highest-income taxpayers." This really matters: Romney intends to push for steep tax cuts for the wealthy. His only pledge is that he'll keep the share of the total tax take paid by the wealthy unchanged,
They cannot say directly that they really believe in slashing taxes on the rich and backing away from so much of what government does because they know that neither idea will sell. So they offer soothing language...
Your mistake Crabby is in reading what these radical leftists like E. J. Dionne Jr. write. If their lips or fingers are moving they are likely lying; sort of like Obama!
Also, at the risk of being called an irrational troll,....should we be more concerned with how Romney MAY change his mind, than the uncountable broken campaign promises concerning both foreign and domestic issues ?
IMHO your question is right-on. I might be in favor of Romney if I thought I really knew what he stands for and what he really plans on doing if elected. I have no idea and, frankly, I do not believe anyone knows.
I would never loan money to a person who say simply, "I have a plan, trust me."
Would you?
Why would I entrust the life of my nation to someone who says "I have a plan, trust me."
Another example:
In September Romney said his position was in support of a budget proposal would tighten the eligibility requirements for Pell Grants and freeze the maximum award for a decade.
In the 1st debate Romney said he would not cut would not cut “grants that go to people going to college,” and in fact wanted them to grow.
In the 2nd debate he said he would increase the amount of money for Pell grants.
He is like this on just about every topic, swaying back and forth and never giving specifics on his programs. No voter and I mean no voter really knows what he really believes or plans to do if elected.
I believe I did answer. It should be a concern for you, for all of us that a person might be elected president and we really have no idea what he really stands for.
