Al Jazeera is owned by the government of one of our staunchest allies in the Arab world, Qatar. Maybe we will gain insight a perspective that will be valuable to peaceful co-existence with that troubled part of the globe.

The clamor about the Al Jazeera purchasing of Current TV is a good reflection of predetermined thoughts and opinions about a cultural component associated with Islam. It is really uninformed and shows how Muslims (along with Hispanic immigrants and gay men) are a group which many Americans have deep prejudices against along the lines of southern white against African-Americans through the first three quarters of last century.
It is an illustration I use when talking about the dangers of prejudice. -
I wonder how many have ever watched Al Jazeera news? -
They're very good at fanning the flames of islamic resentment, anger , or hatred directed against the United states.
That's their purpose and main focus.

Anyone else see the irony that Mr. Inconvenient-Truth sold out to people who make their money by exporting oil?
-
or that the sale was worked out before the new tax rates went into effect.

So Correct Capro...
It was al Jazeera that broadcast Iraq's side of the war when we invded Iraq. I know this for a fact, because if I wanted to hear or see what Iraq's leaders were saying, or how the war was viewed from Iraqs side, I turned into their network. :type:
I do not see al Jazeera doing anything positive for American televison. However, I see them dong a lot to promote Islam in A merica. :tear: -
I may be very uninformed, a gun-toting, Bible thumping and whatever other label that usually goes with this sentence. That's for others to decide. To judge.
In my uninformed opinion there are vast differences in the type of prejudices covered in your examples. I respectfully disagree that they should all be tossed into the same pot to simmer.
Would God lump skin color, thieves, and sodomy into the same group?
As members of the body of Christ, does not God expect us to abhor that which is unnatural? Does God not tell us that it is wrong to steal and to covet? Does He not tell us that we are all brothers and sisters in Christ?
Does God not show His own prejudices throughout the scriptures?
Prejudice, itself is not evil. How it, like the "race card", is applied can be evil, which often seems to be the case today.
To "prove" that I am not prejudice, should I invite the next set of Jehovah's Witness who knock on my door, into my home so they can share their view of the scriptures with me? Should I be as equally accomodating if those knocking are Hindu or Muslim for the same purpose of conversion? -

You don't really think Al Jazeera would leave that up on any of their English language websites, do you?
Just when they're trying to legitimize their coverage?
But, I think you already know that. Thus, the request. -
It's easy to say anything if it don't have to back it up.
The beheading story was refuted and the Daily Mail apologised for their error. -
al Jazeera was a 24 hr news network. They did, indeed, provide 24 hour coverage of Arab celebrations following 911. Was it continous?
Of course not. That's an easy argument to make on your part. I don't believe any network anywhere provided "continuous" coverage of any aspect of 911.
Did they cover it? Yes. Extensively? Yes.
Did they show a lot of dead Iraqis during the iraq War? Yes. Did their lopsided coverage incite anger against the U.S. among Arabs? Absolutely.
Did they air every propaganda tape Bin Laden sent them? Yes. Did that encourage the continuation of terrorist acts against America. Unequivocally. Yes.
They are no friend of America and their lopsided coverage can be expected to continue. -
