This church add appeared in a major Midwest paper. What commends this church?
They at least know what the world is looking for, and it ain't holiness.

Are they reaching people for the Lord? Do they preach the gospel? Do you know the people who attend this church? Do all people in every church that is "holy" or promotes "holiness" act in the right way?
What is your definition of holiness? Once again, how does having quality ministries diqualify holiness?
I'll agree, many times this is put in an ad, I've checked them out and they haven't been that good. -
Hey Aaron, God's been doing a great job of handling the judgement business for years.
I'm sure He'll call on you if He needs help. -
-
Wait a minute....nobody knows what this church is like except from this ad. Hmmmmmm......maybe we don't know as much as we think, therefore shouldn't jump to conclusions. -
Wow... Affirmative adjectives make you unholy!! Thanks for the headsup!
-
Where's the lifting of God in that ad? It is nothing but glorying in what man has done.
Until man decreases, God will not increase. -
Would it be any different if the ad said
"We are a friendly, Bible believing church with an excellent Sunday School with a class for everyone?" -
I believe it would, tenor. For one, it is putting focus on the Word instead of the people.

this place absolutely cracks me up

How are "an excellent SS class for everyone" and "Outstanding children and youth programs" different? they say the same thing. -
yes they say the same thing. But you notice, you left the Bible out again, so it is back to square one. When you put "Bible Believing Church" first, the focus is on the Word of God then the purpose for those Sunday School classes becomes evident.

Don't you all know the right SS answer is "Jesus" or "The Bible"
Without knowing anything else about this church, we would be judging unrighteously.. and that would be a sin...
Nothing in the ad signifies the church does not stand for holiness...
But around here (on BB) if it is not your worship style, it is sin...
That has to make God sick....
For all it is doing is burdening the gospel, and keeping people from Christ...
People, move over and let Jesus save people!
And that does not mean it has to be your way.. let Him do it His way. -
I assume, until I find otherwise, that a church is a Bible believin, God honoring church.
I find it a sad state when a church feels they need to tell people they are "friendly" or "Bible believing." -
Was that the entire ad?
-
After looking at it again, I would have a problem comparing choirs to others in the city... kinda looks like someone is trying to steal sheep...
We are not in a competition... we are all on the same side..
KJVOs along with MVs
CCMs along with hymns
Women in pants with women in no pants... uh.. wait.. women in dresses lol
Ties and suits along with Jeans and hoodies...
We are all on the same side...
Why compete with the church down the street...
Just be yourself, advertise the truth about yourself, and let God bring them in...
After all, it is His church.. not ours! -
Why not advertise Christ?
After all, it's His Church, not ours. -
This would not set one church apart from another...
The whole point of advertisement is to bring people to your business because they need something that other businesses don't have.
What we are seeing here is the corporate side of Christianity...
And I am afraid it is more competition driven than Holy Spirit driven.
IF a church was to advertise, it should advertise what makes them unique.
IOWS.. if a church is KJVO it should advertise it... (only 1611 KJVO if they only use the 1611... IMO:thumbs: )
If they are traditional worship, advertise it...
IF they are liturgical, advertise it.
If they are modern worship advertise it...
It should be given that they are Christ followers.. but in this day and age, I think I would advertise that, because so many churches are followers of tradition than followers of Christ.
Advertise what you are, without being competitive....
Then let the Holy Spirit work. -
