Americans have confidence in Biden's qualifications but not Palin's.

More bad news for the McCain campaign.


WSJ/NBC Poll: Voters Doubt Palin’s Qualifications to Be President

The latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll shows nearly half of voters harbor doubts that Republican vice presidential hopeful Sarah Palin is qualified to be president.

Asked, “Do you feel that Sarah Palin is qualified to be president if the need arises, or is she not qualified to be president?” 49% of all respondents said the Alaska governor is not qualified while 40% said she is.

I believe that the more Palin talks, the more people will see that she is not someone who should be second in line for the presidency.

The title is misleading as it implies all Amercans

 

As a supporter of McCain, I'm beginning to have qualms about Palin. I'm still going to vote for McCain, though, because I disagree with Obama on a large number of issues.

We should first be concerned that Obama is not someone who should be first in line to be President. Depending upon how you measure it or observe it the case can surely be made that he's less "experienced" than Palin!

 

If he is less experienced than Palin then so is McCain. He has no executive experience either.

 

Correct. The ultimate dem ticket would have been Richardson/Clinton.

And if Guliani/Romney could have gotten along, they would have had a 49 state wipeout.

 

OK. I'm convinced.

Based on experience Biden should be the democrat candidate for President with someone besides Obama as his VP.


Hillary would probably agree:


"I have said Senator McCain will bring a lifetime of experience to the campaign, I will bring a lifetime of experience, and Senator Obama will bring a speech he made in 2002."

The poll results as given are not very meaningfull.

Without knowing whether Republicans and Democrats were asked in equal numbers - we don't know if the results are skewed or not.

If a greater number of Democrats were polled than Republicans it would be expected that Biden would show a greater percentage of respondents saying that he is qualified.

The headline to the article is misleading. " Voters Doubt Palin’s Qualifications to Be President" should actually say " Poll Respondents Doubt Palin's Qualifications to Be President".

KenH just took it to a higher level of misrepresentation when he changed it to Americans .

Well it all comes down to how we define "executive experience" doesn't it (and what is is).

Being a senator is questionable as executive experience, but you are running an office. Most senators have multiple employees and they do have to manage something. But if you do count this as executive experience then McCain slams Obama. Obama has a partial Senate term, McCain has 2 terms in the house and 3 full and one partial term in the Senate.

You can also question a lot of McCain's military career when it comes to 'executive experience.' Although as a naval officer and military academy graduate he had lots of leadership training an aviator, prisoner, and rehab patient is not really doing much executive management. But McCain's time as a squadron commander has to count.

Any way you look at it McCain's experience tops Obama's.

 

Obama is the least experienced by far and also has the worst ideas by far.

 

This means you're counting Senate as experience, this means Palin is the least.

Besides, the McCain campaign agrees with me. You can tell by how they keep her from the press and don't send her off in rough territory on her own. It tells me a lot when you sequester a candidate days before the vote.

 

And how many press interviews has Biden given in recent days?

Isn't it bad form to hold a lot of press interviews before the first official debate between the two candidates?

 

Biden does press interviews all the time. That is where most of his gaff's takes place. He is also very talkative with all the press assigned to him. I guess he is pretty open and accessible on his plane.

 

Nah, I don't slice and dice it that way. The bigger picture is what I look at.
