Because if there's anywhere bereft of a Reformed witness it's. . .West Michigan?

Isn't that why they issued a press release, so people would know about it?
Unlike some schemes discussed elsewhere on the BB, this effort is not covert, and that is to commended.

This from one who has posted things like:
down that path of Reformed Theology. I accepted it as the true faith & tried to build my life on it....that is until I discovered things detestable about the people I was later dealing with. The bottom line is there is bondage to religion out there & your right, all you need to do is recognize it & move on. The interesting thing is that it was my brother who was patient with me & pulled me outa there (Being a Baptist Minister). Also, after seeing what my wife & I went through, her entire family has renounced them & moved to churches that are much more humble and use the bible as their primary reference point . So I guess that having gone through it all, practicing discernment & exposing them has great value in finding the true Christ & His Kingdom.

The West Michigan thing seemed strange to me as well...then I saw the link to the Amway financiers; th ehusband is from Grand Rapids which, of course, is in West Michigan. Perhaps, helping to fund plant churches in his Childhood home area was a conditon on the money.

Thank you for your lucid post.
It is strange, as western Michigan is already a Reformed enclave.
See this map .

prosperity in Grand Rapids induced the Christian Reformed Church to locate its seminary there in 1876. This decision eventually made Grand Rapids the CRC intellectual center, complete with college, seminary, and denominational headquarters.

Indeed.
Grand Rapids Press
[Amway mogul Rich DeVos's] goal of reuniting the Christian Reformed Church with the Reformed Church in America. . . .the two denominations split in 1857. . . .the issues that caused the CRC to break away are irrelevant now. . .Virtually no theological or worship differences remain. Now that the CRC ordains women, that's no issue either.

A pleasant surprise to me. I was always under the impression that AMWAY was a Mormon thing.

A pleasant surprise - a person puts his money where his mouth is.
