One of the Vatican's highest ranked clerics and a frequent critic of President Obama said Friday that Notre Dame is causing a "scandal" by giving the president an honorary degree and a platform to address graduates at its commencement next weekend.
'The proposed granting of an honorary doctorate at Notre Dame University to our president, who is so aggressively advancing an anti-life and anti-family agenda, is rightly the source of the greatest scandal," said Archbishop Raymond Burke, who is the prefect of the Apostolic Signatura, the Vatican's highest court.

I am happy to see some like the Arch Bishop speak out -
-
What if I voted for a president who lies, does that mean my heart isn't right? Do you know any politician who doesn't lie? -
Jesus warned:
I believe we are living in the last times. We don't know the day nor the hour when our Lord will come, but he's given us signs of the times to encourage us as we see that day approaching, that we are not discouraged, knowing he is faithful who will hold that which we've committed to his safe keeping. There are warnings, however, to us who think we are of the community of faith:
Before that man of sin is revealed, we are warned there is already a 'falling away first'. While I don't think Obama is 'that man of sin', I do think he is a predecessor. There are a number of these 'type' figures in history, each in his own way exhibiting some of the traits and evil powers which will be completely brought together in 'that man of sin'. Obama is striking in the power to deceive.
The election is over. The only reason the saints keep returning to this subject over and over in politics is because these are some who are moved by the holy spirit to see deception so evident in politics as a symptom of spiritual attack or disease afflicting the church..... and they lovingly know that there is peril for those who aren't holding the ground of faith that they have laid claim to, and are yeilding up the terratory which was bought by the precious blood of the Lamb, the church his kingdom, and has been held through many persecutions and martyres in the faith.
Jesus said:
Peter already had faith albeit before the cross (as diid the saints of the OT). Yet the Lord said 'when thou art converted.....'. Why? It takes conviction by the holy spirit to bring the power to convert. Was there a time when Peter demonstrated this?
A person living soundly in the conviction that Jesus Christ is Lord of his life, has a love for the truth. A person living soundly in the conviction that Jesus Christ is Lord of his life finds no pleasure in the unrighteous acts in the world in which he lives. Verse 12 tells us in who and why deception occurs, they believe not the truth and have pleasure in unrigtheousness.

What then should we do?

That may be true for you.
It is certainly not true for a seemingly significant number of people who voted for Obama.
He has a cult like following. -

No matter what station or role in life one has..... if they are a parishioner, or a pastor, or a President: If they say they are a Christian, and then say there are many roads to God........ they have denied the need for Jesus to go to the cross and become our sacrifice. IOW, they are saying that God gave his only begotten son for nothing. This is not compatible with our faith nor the Word.
God's love for the sinner was shown on Calvary in both his shame and his glory, in his agony and in his triumph over death: God makes no room for sin. Neither do we...... though we do sin..... we wrestle with ourselves to give no place to it, and though his work was finished on the cross... we return daily for the foot washing repentance of the soil which we pick up in daily living in a fallen world, that we might be presented as a bride dressed in his righteousness and without spot at his appearing.
If you vote for a person, but you recognize that he is failable, then be honest and clear and don't defend or attempt to justify when those incompatibilities are pointed out. Be true to your calling and be not a friend to evil works, for your faith demands it of you and you are called to a higher purpose. Don't let deception have a foothold for like the leaven in a lump of meal..... it works its evil til the whole lump is saturated.
One day, we will give an account for every idle word which is spoken. Everything we say, every word we write for others to read.... bears some fruit. Words have spirit, the power of life or death. Let us hope to carefully choose our words so that we encourage all that is good and true and faithful, and not let ourselves give the appearance of compromise with that which is evil. If God is our Father, and Jesus Christ is our Lord, let us go about in words and by example, doing his will, and not give occassion for others to doubt where we stand.

Regarding the OP.
I'm against abortion. I am fully convinced, convicted (as I understand the term) that abortion is an abomination to God and he abhors it. Where others stand against it.... so do I ...... regardless of other differences which might separate us. Will it make a difference upon Obama? I don't know. At least these protests stand as a testiment against the sin of abortion and as a witness against him and those who approve of it. -
And before you call President Bush a liar present proof! -

This will probably get deleted as a personal attack, but you epitomize every negative stereotype of the arrogant Calvinist. -
Nope, a vote for the big boys would do nothing.

Abortion is a sin, abomination to God and he abhors it is not found in scripture. I'm not saying this is not how God feels inside but for you to be fully convinced and convicted of something not found in scripture, in my view, means you are making assumptions about God or are putting words in His mouth. It is as if you have taken something you are passionately against and decided God is just as passionate against it as you are.
I find the Word of God to be very complete and all things he called a transgression or sin he listed in his Word. Things he felt were an abomination are also listed. I don't think he left us to feelings or to decide... I also find God to be a capable God.
I think it is perfectly ok to stand in testament against anything you feel is wrong. The problem is when you pre-judge or condemn others who view things a little differently from you. To say because I voted for Obama means I support abortion is judgmental on your part and is no where found in scripture. You don't know me or my heart.
THROUGHOUT ALL THE PRESIDENTS SINCE THE INCEPTION OF THIS NATION, REPUBLICAN AND DEMOCRAT, ABORTION IS LEGAL. If voting Republican were going to stop abortion, abortion wouldn't be legal.
Perhaps you believe a Repulican would change the composition of the SCOTUS? The facts are 7 of the 9 current justices were appointed by Republican's. AND ABORTION IS STILL LEGAL. This means in your logic, everyone who has ever voted has endorsed abortion because not one has made it illegal and we know that isn't true.
You said earlier if I give my vote to Obama I am following Obama. Does this mean if you vote for McCain you are following McCain? I sure hope not since neither are spiritual leaders. McCain may not have the sin of abortion but we both know he is not without sin. I can respect both men for who they are but as for following, I follow Jesus and not the earthly leader voted in as POTUS.
You make God sound like a one issue God (abortion) and we both know that isn't true.
We can't look to Caesar to do the work of God. God alone gives and takes life. No one else. Caesar is Caesar and God is God. This is why we render unto God that which is God and Caesar that which is Caesar. One doesn't prove their faith or devotion to God via a vote for Caesar. That would be works based salvation which is not a part of my faith.
