Are only SBC churches Baptist?
Are SBC churches superior to other Baptist churches?
When I ask a question concerning Baptists, should I accept the SBC standard as the only answer?

There are many different kinds of baptist churches....SBC is one group of baptists that meets corporately once a year at the southern bap convention, funds missions together, appoints leaders and messengers to churches, etc.
There are many other baptist...fundamental baptist, missionary baptist, national baptist,
landmark baptist, reformed baptist(which is where I line up doctrinally).
There are many here much more knowledgeable than me...so maybe some others can explain it.

To put it simply, no to all three of your questions.

BUT, T2U, don't ask ME a Baptist question and expect me to be able to answer for all 143 branches of Baptists! I can only answer according to SBC or my limited knowledge of other Baptist groups. I would think you'd expect the same thing if I asked about a Catholic parrish. Right? :D
Off to city wide visitation! I'm one of the brave, the few, who will do cold calls..... I just hit them over the head with my very heavy Nelson NKJV Study Bible until they ask Jesus into their hearts. Not!

Are "all Catholics the same"? What about the Catholic priest - Martin Luther? What about all the other Catholic groups - that were eventually "unwelcomed" by the church they tried to reform and then started new Bible based fellowships?

That works for many Diane, Ya gotta get their attention, and facing their own mortality at the hands of a good cold calling Baptist with a heavy bible is one way to get their attention.
Have ya ever tried the sleeper hold method? It's a little more risky, cause ya gotta throw your arm around their neck to shut off the blood supply to their pea-pickin' brain long enough for them to go to sleep. While they are asleep, you tie 'em up and sit squarely in the middle of their chest 'til they wake up and you read with a very loud voice, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, and John 3:16 and 1 John 1:9, and make 'em confess their sins before you let them up.
I've never actually seen the sleeper-hold method work, but I've heard people in the ICU at the hospital talkin' about having tried it. -
I'm too short to use the sleeper hold so I've got my big Nelson Study Bible in a holder with a good leather handle. I can swing high and hit 'em square upside their heads til they surrender to the Lord!
Makes me laugh, these big old men scared to share the Roman's Road with strangers! LOL. The lady I go with and I were laughing about what a thrill we get from sharing Jesus with everybody!
Honestly tho, I've seen grown men fall to their knees and cry out to ask Jesus into their hearts and the joy I feel knowing there's one more for Jesus! I remember one itenerate orange grove worker who just kept saying God could never forgive him for what he had done.... and I pray someday someone else will reap the fruit and that I'll see that young man in heaven.

No. All SBC's are Baptist, but not all Baptists are SBC. (BTW, I'm an SBC member.)
No. (BTW, have I mentioned I'm an SBC member??)
Now, if you replace the letters SBC with IFB, or any other B, the answers remain the same (except for where I say I'm an SBC member ) -

That was interesting, but its not the roll that's called down here-nder that counts but the roll that's called up yonder! No Baptist, nor any denomination can get a corner on that one, its reserved for believers in Jesus Christ only.

Since I’ve been a member of the Baptist Board, I’ve noticed a few SBC faithful who believe in evolution and even a conversation was initiated that the Jews worship a different God than the Christians. Is this is the SBC doctrine?

Pretty funny, Clint!

Sorry that the columns don't line up, but in the EZCoding, it get's messed-up. My point is, of those "Rites" that are not Orthodox, they are all "in union with Rome" and this we have a far greater monolithic structure then BobRyan seems to think, dispite the fact that we have had our schisms and falling aways, such as Luther.
In any case, I think, or at least I hope, that all of the Baptist communities listed would have the same doctrinal statement throughout.
Or am I assuming too much here.......?
God bless,

The Baptist Faith and Message Articles of Faith will show that SBC believe in creation and not evolution.
Those who are not Completed Jews do not recognize God the Son or God the Holy Spirit. Does that mean they believe in the very same God but only certain parts of Him? I don't know. I cannot see into the hearts of our many Jewish population. -
In studying Luke last night I came across an interesting passage. (Luke 13:34-35)
In that last verse, Jesus reveals something of the conditions surrounding His second coming. When He comes again, the Jewish people will welcome Him as the Messiah, saying, "blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord."
It will take a great deal to bring Israel to that point, but God will do it, and Israel will welcome Jesus back - even as Paul wrote in Romans 11:26: And so all Israel will be saved.
Praise God! So yes, we DO worship the same God, Almighty maker of heaven and earth! -
Even the demons believe, and tremble!

Again, I believe that their eyes were shut for the purpose of our salvation. The Great Tribulation will be Gods method of wooing His chosen people back to Him. Of course many Gentiles will be saved during this time, but the gentiles will not be Gods focus during this time. The Jews will play a significant part in the end times, just as John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus’ first coming, the Jews in the end times will prepare the way for Jesus’ second coming. It’s all Gods will and purpose.
What will happen to a practicing Jew if he/she were to die without Christ as Savior? I will leave that Judgment to God, since it was His will that their eyes were closed to Jesus anyway.
I felt just as comfortable praying along side a Jewish setter at the Western Wall in Jerusalem as I do at our Church alter every Sunday.
Thanks for the conversation... -
Diane
