Where I work there is a 1/2 mile walk from my parking place to my actual office. I walk it every morning, and its always beautiful, but today I stopped and took special note of it and thanked God for it as I tried to imagine what it would look like if it was hit with devastating floods.
At lunch, I walked across the street, and for $6.57 got a sirloin steak, bread, a twice baked potatoe, squash and a bottle of tea. I kept thinking, there are people who would give everything they ever owned for this, just one state away.
My son is in a clean, dry classroom right now, and he just left a cafeteria where he got a good hot lunch, for between $1.35 to $4.00, depending on what he decided to eat.
I am so very blessed.
So are all of you.
What are you even more thankful for as you watch the news from LA and MS?
Are you more thankful today?

I am constanly amazed at what I do have, I went through some very hard time 5 years worth nonstop. Times which most Christians would have quit and given up. ( still they would be saved mind you )
When I think God has forsaken me I remind myself of the amazing things I do have.
I'M THANKFUL FOR MINE AND MY FAMILIES HEALTH, I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN HEALTHY. I'm 42.
WHERE WE LIVE IS BEAUTIFUL. I am thankful I was born in America, I am thankful I was born in California ( especially like time like this with whats happening back east ) I am thankful I live where I do live in CA.

This should cause all of us to be more thankful....and I am sure it will for awhile as with all events of this nature. Yet as the days, weeks, months go by the majority of us will get caught up in the daily routine of life and loose that sense.
But yes I am more thankful for everything that the good Lord has blessed me with in this life. -
Someone at the clinic today said they should just fill in the hole called New Orleans, people and all.
I could not believe that kind of calloused response to people who have nothing left and nowhere to turn.
We have started an Isaiah 58 box at the clinic for folks to buy, then donate items for the massive relief effort of people who are truly destitute.
Isaiah 58:6-7
Is this not the fast which I choose:
To loosen the bonds of wickedness,
To undo the bands of the yoke
To let the oppressed go free,
To break every yoke?
Is it not
To divide your bread with the hungry
To bring the homeless poor into the house
To cover the unclothed
And NOT to hide yourself from the needs of humanity? -
People need to be thinkfull as well. What happened over there is a tragedy, but what would the Lord say of something like that?
Luke 13:2-5
2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
Are we living the way He would want us to? We need to get right with the Lord while He is having mercy on us. A lot of people in that city are out of time. We could be next. -
What is encouraging me is that although the media are televising the worst stuff from New Orleans, is that there are Christians there who are doing all they can and helping people. Praise God for the remnant of believers that are there and may He overflow His grace through their hands and feet.
Praise God that there are Christians who are unselfish and are letting the love of God flow through them to people that really need it in New Orleans. -
James,
Some are trying to live the way the Lord wants, some aren't trying. We can't judge.
We can, though, look at what the Lord told US, and he TOLD us that if we give a drink of water in His name, or clothe the poor in His name, or feed the hungry in His name, we are doing feeding and clothing Him, and quenching HIS thirst. He also said that if we DO NOT do these things, we will incur His wrath.
