Just certain groups ar considered fundamentalist.
Of course fundamentalism isn't isolated to just Baptist groups. :) -
Now if someone is a fundamentalist Baptist is that ok??

They do not like to be descibed that way...but just look at there teaching...everything under the banner of seperation..
as an example...look up the requirements for someone to go to Bob Jones University, -
I consider myself a fundamentalist, how there would be many fundamentalist who would say I am not.
Nothing is wrong about being a "fundy" - the problem comes in when you go to the extremes and demand others live a life that you think that is best for situations that are not commanded in the Bible.
-
A stand was made against this attack and many Baptists adopted the name "fundamentalist" to acknowledge their stand against these errors. Of course today "fundamentalist" carries a much more negative connotation. Local bodies, and some groups still call themselves fundamental Baptists, unfortunately not too many really know what this means.

Ok cuz the preacher talked today about going too a good fundamental baptist church and never hurd him say that befor so I was not really sure what he meant by that....Mind you I have only been back too the baptist church for a short time now as for a few years I kinda sorta let my faith slip away, Was raised Baptist by my Grandparents.....Not my parents as they could care less what the life me and my brother had....Long story thats for another day lol

I am wondering when you accepted Jesus as Savior? Being raised a Baptist doesn't mean you are on your way to Heaven. -
-
Amen....I was just checking. People could drown in the baptistry and never get to Heaven, you know. -

It pretty much depends on who is doing the catagorizing.
There are some who consider ANY church that is NOT an ultra liberal, tree hugging, gay affirming church, to be a fundamentalist church.
On the other hand, others would pretty much stop at the Wesboro Wacko types regarding being fundamemtalist.
It just depends on who is doing the grouping. -
Sometimes it depends on whether you are American or Canadian. I am with the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches of Canada. Some are called fundamentalist whilst some of us are just evangelical.
At Queen's, my liberal mates called me fundamentalist, whilst some Baptist brethren deemed me liberal because I was at Queen's.
In the 40's and 50's, we accepted the term fundamentalist quite willingly whilst the more liberal Convention Baptists were so named. It was when we formed the Fellowship we adopted the term evangelical rather than fundamentalist.
Cheers,
Jim

I am near Kingston, Ontario,,just 40 miles NW in a small village called Tamworth.
I have served as pastor in ten provinces, but I have been here for about 40 years now.
Cheers, and welcome,

Let me laugh for a second.
I considered myself a fundy until I came here and found I was a liberal in disguise.
What am I now? Forgiven. Labels separate that which should be united.
