It's probably in the same book where we find, "And thus shalt thou call them amongst their dwelling places and inquire of them, 'hast thou Prince Albert in a can?'"
Sheesh!
Between this and MikeSnedding and Ernie's bookburning parties, I don't know which is the more bizzare evangelism technique.

I'll have to check that.
Let's see...

(you'll notice that he didn't even acknowledge the verses I provided....)

No, Jefferson, a way to prevent at least some abortions without making a laughing stock of us.
If you read Romans 2, you will find that people are led to repentance through the KINDNESS of God. If you are that concerned about abortions, reach out to the teens and teach about chastity and faithfulness to one's wife or husband even before marriage.
Befriend the people who are in the most trouble.
In the meantime, a couple of points: I think I can dig up the source, but I read not long ago, with the numbers etc., that far more are dying from legal abortions than ever did from illegal abortions! The death argument is actually a bit of deceit that was used to make abortions seem merciful.
To my mind, even worse than the killing of the children (which, murder though it is, is at least over and done with), is the trauma the procedure causes many mothers. Their bodies know they are mothers and react accordingly, even when the mind is fighting that knowledge. Lives can get pretty ripped up by abortions, and still have to go on living.
The question was asked a page or two ago why abortion is not an attractive option for many young doctors. I don't think it is because of anything hollered or screamed at them. I think it is far more because they have become a little more sensitized to the meaning due to our current knowledge of genetics and embryology as well as documented material like the book and movie "Silent Scream." The one thing the pro-life folk did do was keep the issue in the public eye, and that was good, although it most certainly could have been done without bombings, hysteria, etc.
Something that interests me now, and makes me smile, concerns the ads for various medications on television. In the part that warns of possible complications, they call the unborn baby and unborn baby! Or "your unborn child". I love it!
It most certainly is not an ostrich :D

Years from now, when abortion has been outlawed, I believe the history books will give the credit to the fanatics rather than to the "respectable" pontificators.

We are Christ's representatives.
If we scream at people they will think we believe in a God who screams 'murderer' at a teenage girl whose boyfriend or family pressured her into getting an abortion for their own convenience, with little thought for her.
And a teenage Christian girl in our own churches who - God forbid but it might happen - falls into temptation and gets pregnant, who was too scared to tell anyone and had an abortion - will think that God is screaming 'murderer' at her.
Whereas, the prodigal son story tells us of the Father who waits at the window, for His wayward child to come home, who runs out and hugs and kisses him when he sees him in the distance.
We do not have a God who screams. Let us not scream, lest we mislead people about who He really is.
That's what I think.
And - it is not a 'sin' to be liked. Also, Don mentioned the fruit of the Spirit. Do you think that someone who is full of "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control" (Gal 5:23) screams at people? And do you think that they will not be liked. I think they might be liked. Who wouldn't like someone like that?
Anyway, as you know, I've seen how you've stirred people up on the Secular Web, with your posts on your identically named thread there. You've given them more reason to believe that Christians are hateful. They have been incensed at you. I find your motives very hard to understand. -

The other two parts of that rebuke thing, which people really tend to overlook, are to reprove and exhort (1 Timothy 4:2). "Reprove" means to convict, refute, to find fault with, correct. "Exhort" means to console, encourage, strengthen, comfort.
I see you doing a lot of rebuking, Jeff, but I don't see much reproving or exhorting.
Ya know, we are to follow ALL the teachings, not just the ones that we've taken out of context and twisted to meet the desires of our flesh--which, as you'll recall, are clearly listed in Galatians 5:19-21. It would probably be a good thing if each and every one of us memorized that list....
Now, Jefferson, since you're still avoiding the verses I provided, how do you reconcile those verses with your "fun screaming matches"?
Especially in light of what Galatians 6:1 fully says: Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
I await your reconciliation, sir. Please provide it as quickly as possible. -
Charlie: please dont misunderstand me, I am pro life! I guess I was playing devils advocate. I
USED to be pro "choice" until I really thought it through and the Lord removed the blinders from my eyes. any interested person can find websites that present a pro choice view with statistics. places like feminists.org have info that a lot of women look at. Hasnt everyone heard the stories about the women dying getting coat hanger abortions? The numbers may be exaggerated but women did die getting illegal abortions. The pro abortion side uses these cases to tug at the emotions of women, particularly impressionable young women, to convince us that making abortion legal and "safe" is kinder than the alternatives.
Its all so sad. for the babies AND for the women.
The fact is, if a women has an abortion she is making the CHOICE to kill a human child. not just a piece of tissue,a human being. Its amzing how truly simple it is, of COURSE abortion is wrong, thats a baby!!!! I feel for the women who have made that "Choice" only to realize they killed their babies and now regret it. The guilt they must feel, those who see what they have done! And the children, the unborn children.......never even a chance.........
This subject is way too sad. Its a shame that the way Christians treat "pro aborts" became the big issue on this thread instead of focusing on this victory for the pro life movement embodied in this commercial. I helped with that, too.
Hooray for GE commercials that illustrate the humanity of the unborn! I saw it on prime time TV last night (reminded me to come back to this thread!). As the technology gets better, it will be much more clear that the unborn are persons in their own right. Those who will not believe without seeing will see and have to believe.

Too bad they conveniently leave out the women who are dying from "legal, safe" abortions....

Wow. I was directed here by concerned BB members who thought this was out of hand and "far-out" comments.
I don't agree with each post for certain sure, but this is an open "free-for-all" forum.
We sure attract some strange folks. Glad at least I'm normal. -
