Healthcare Legeslation a NAIL in America's Coffin???
Will the financial cost to eventually operate the Obama-care health plan transform this once free standing, industrialized nation into a third-world banana republic???
Time will tell if my prediction is right, or, wrong. And, like many of you, I pray I'm wrong!:flower:
However, if we continue to tumble and spin out of control in this downward, financial free-fall, America will not only be broke [financially], but, it will be broken and possibly broken beyond repair.
So, what caused America to stub its big toe and begin a one-way slide to oblivion, tumbling and stumbling head-over-heals, completely out-of-control and down the proverbially slippery (political) slope was her reckless spending on useless bailout programs and the drive to secure a fairytale entitlement health insurance plan for a nation of people unable to afford and purchase it.
So, as America continues its downward spiral, its leaders seem to be thoroughly unable to see the forest beyond the trees, which means they can not stop this out-of-control fall from greatness. America seems to be doomed to be just another failed attempt at democracy in the annals of future historians.
President Obama is EGO DRIVEN, and will eventually be judged for passing over the only thing that could have saved America: JOBS!
So, while mired in a depression like recession, the POTUS took it upon himself to stubbornly and singlehandedly spearhead a health care plan that will mean nothing to the sick and physical needy in America, because without jobs, Americans can't afford to purchase the universal insurance plan. And without cash carrying consumers, gainfully employed, the government will be unable to recoup the money needed to keep their massive ship afloat; and like the Titanic, this sweeping health care plan will sink, taking those aboard, down to the bottom of their political abyss.
Truly the cart [health care] was put before the horse [jobs], which is why the cargo never arrived at its intended destination. That destination was simply gainful employment, leading American's back to a stable, productive economy, which in turn would enable the people the ability to pay their own way in life, and purchase a health care plan that meets their needs.:tear:

It seems to me that what all the economic experts we have in this country, something could have been done within the private sector to curb abusive insurance companies, lawyers, and medical establisments, plus get more people health care, without getting the government involved in the managment of it. This is going to be a disaster. Having been with the government for 36 years, I can tell you this is a train wreck waiting to happen. They cannot get a letter across town in three days.
A few laws passed in strategic areas would have made a big difference, for example, tort reform, and insurance reform. For what we are spending on this program, we could purchase every uninsured person in America a top notch policy in the private sector.
As is usual with politicians, it is not about what is best for us, it is about control and power. -

A banana republic? This one piece of legislation, as bad as it is?

But it's a nail. -

The problem with the Senate bill is it's not liberal enough, it gives the Republicans ammunition to use against the Democrats, and it alienates the Democratic base.
-
Isn't he the head of the Democrats?
Isn't he supposed to be a leader?
Actually, Obama doesn't care what is in the bill just so long as he can say he signed it and pat himself on the back of for (insert some self congratulatory rhetoric here). -
I wonder why we have a president, Mr. Wannabe Lawyer?
Here's a flash for you, so be sure and pay attention...
In the grown up world, if a president , or any chief executive, or any individual signs it...whatever it is...they own it. -

That tricked people into believing that they could be free from the consequences for poor choices and inhibited a maturation of into true adulthood.
It fostered an emphasis of "what's in it for me?" instead of "what are my responsibilities towards others?".
And here we are now. -

JFK Had it RIGHT....
Than, sad to say, he was killed, and LBJ introduced social welfare, and the slow drive to entitlement within the hearts of the people had its birth...
Thanks for your post and feedback, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

It is hard to put a date on it, but this is when the slide started. Fifty years ago, yes, abortion and gay relationships existed, but those who did such things kept them hid. They were not acceptable to society in general, and as a rule not talked about. There are many other examples.
The slide started when we as a society started accepting them. We went from that point to making it the official law of the land, and it is now more than a slide, it is a free fall.
It is bad enough to sin before a Holy God, and be ashamed of it. It is quite another to rub the Lord's face in it. -

It was free trade that did this when we stopped treating the banana republics like banana republics and eliminated import duties while the banana republics didn't eliminate their import duties. -
