WACO, Texas The world's biggest Baptist university warned students not to pose for Playboy, but a magazine spokeswoman says some showed up to meet photographers anyway.
Theresa Hennessey won't say how many Baylor University students arrived for the interviews at a Texas hotel this week. She says only that the Baylor turnout was lower than other schools because of its religious affiliation.

And this is the next generation of pastors?
-
LadyEagle, why would you say that?
Baylor is a large University, not just a seminary. -
I don't care, as the OP states, it is the largest Baptist University. Don't Baptist Universities have Ethics Codes to which students are expected to comply or risk expulsion?

I support their expusion.
-
I also support their expulsion.
-
What I would consider is why is it that the students feel that they need to do that? Is it for money, is is for perversion, is it because of delusions about potential fame?
Whatever they do, each of these students are made in the image of God, and His love for them is infinite. Casting them out of the church because they are into sinful behaviour is one option. Yet what is it that the college is doing in encouraging them to grow in their relationship with God in the first place? Has the college administration really done a carefull job of ensuring that all that study at this Baptist college are being discipled in all the areas of the Christian faith? -

I agree with expulsion. Wholeheartedly.
No need to belabor the point....it's a done deal.
But I also must ask the question as to what is Baylor going to do with the young men on campus who have Playboy magazines in their possession.
Let me answer that for you.
They are going to do nothing. And that's a shame. -

Baylor has been a problem for a very long time. Not to say that there is still not Christians on staff...there certainly are...but Baylor for a very long time has drifted towards the left and Baylor and her Seminary, Truit Seminary,...although not quite clasicaly liberal, are without a doubt moderate and drifting fast to the left. This is why Baylor is not supported in the least by conservative Southern Baptist Church's in Texas....but the liberal leaning Baptist General Convention of Texas continues to sing her praises.

Baylor, can't control anyone at the school any more then any other school can control their students. It sent out an email to all female students warning them that any association with Playboy would result in being expelled from the school. What each individual student does after that is a reflection on the student not the university, in this case Baylor.
Baylor was always a Texas Baptist school, never a SBC school. To my knowledge all state Baptist schools are state run schools not (never, to my knowledge) convention schools. The seminaries are what the convention supported. And by the way it is Truett, not Truit. -

you are correct on who 'owns' the schools, although Baylor is self governed, she is supported by and large by the BGCT. Truett Seminary is a Baylor entity, however...I realize you know this and simply say it for other posters not from Texas. -

Scarlett, are you saying that if a male student posed for playgirl magazine, he would be treated differently because he is male. -

The next generation of leaders at Baylor will play "Patty Cake" with their liberal students!!! This is why---if I lived in Texas--I would want my church to be a part of the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention! -

I guess the problem is too large-scale and too accepted as a silent and undiscussed "right of passage" for the Univesity to send the young men an e-mail reminding them of moral standards of a Christian man.

J </font>[/QUOTE]There are very few Southern Baptist Churches (if any) left who would actually hire a female pastor.
Plus, as you can see, Baylor has pretty much ceased to be an SBC University a long time ago by partnering with the CBF: web page

My husband went to Baylor and even in the dark ages they were fairly liberal.
IMHO, any student in a Christian school should get the boot for anything smacking of flagrant sin. Certainly exposing yourself in a magazine would fall into the flagrant sin category.
