    Dear tatertot,
I just bought a George Foreman grill at a silent auction. We are reading the instructions.
    Do you have any tips?

Karen: There is a recipe 5-6 posts above yours for a breakfast omelet (I would call it a casserole).

Just substitute sausage for the ham and lay some Tater Tots on the top.

When I make it, I leave out the green chilies.

I love my George Foreman grill. We use it all winter for hamburgers, steaks, pork chops, pork steak, etc. I especially like it because nothing has to be turned on it. Both sides cook at the same time.

    Buñuelos

These are delicious served with honey or cinnamon sugar.
    Number of servings 12

    Ingredients

    1 large egg, beaten
    1/2 cup milk
    2 tbsp butter, melted
    2 cups White Wings Flour
    3/4 tsp baking powder
    1/2 tsp salt
    2 tbsp sugar

    Preparation Instructions

    1 Preheat oil to 375°F.
2 In a large bowl, combine egg, milk and butter; blend well.
3 Add White Wings Flour, baking powder, salt and sugar; mix well.
4 Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently 3 to 5 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic.
5 Divide into 12 dough balls. Roll out to 6-inch circles.
6 Fry in deep hot oil until lightly browned on both sides. Drain on paper towels.
7 Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar or drizzle with honey.

I made these on the stove and I also divided them into 24 pieces instead of 12 (otherwise they will be huge!)

We used to make those out of left-over pie dough but I didn't know they had a name.

USMC Recipe for SOS (ground beef on toast)

1/2 lb. Ground Beef (ground chuck for flavor)
1 tbs. Bacon fat (lard/Crisco or butter)
    3 tbs. Flour
2 cups Whole milk (add more milk if you want it thinner)
    1/8 tsp. Salt
    Pepper (to taste)
    8 slices of dry toast

Using a large skillet (12"-14"), crumble and brown the ground beef with the fat and salt, remove the pan from the heat and let cool slightly.

Mix in the flour until all of the meat is covered, using all of the flour. Replace the skillet on the heat and stir in the milk, keep stirring until the mixture comes to a boil and thickens (boil a minimum of 1 minute).

Serve over the toast. Salt & pepper to taste.

(Serves 8 or two hungry Marines)

For the health conscience, substitute 90-10 beef rather than the 80% lean – 20% fat, leave the butter or bacon grease out, use skim or low fat milk, and forget the salt. To reduce but not eliminate carbohydrates, leave the bread out, and it is still good.

First, take your favorite apple pie recipe, and substitute pears in the place of apples. It really is good.

My military daddy used to fix SOS for us young'uns all the time and I loved it then, just as I do now.

Tho' I'm not too fond of pears, I'll have to try them in my apple pie; sounds good.

Being a former military wife, I know what SOS stands for and am guessing some of you don't. UG!

We have creamed tuna on toast quite often. Very yummy. I make a white sauce with Argo Corn Starch and add drained tuna. Put it on toast and top with butter. Yummy!

    Chicken Pot Pie

In a large bowl, mix 2 C. cooked chicken, 1 16-oz. pkg. frozen mixed veggies, 2 cans Cream of Potato soup, 1/2 C. milk and 1/2 tsp. thyme.

Pour into unbaked pie crust and cover with second pie crust. Bake at 375-400 for about 1 hour. Cover edges with foil to keep from over-browning.

(I use Pillsbury 2-crust ready-made pie crusts because, for me, they're MUCH easier to use and usually come out better than my homemade variety!)

Mine just came out of the oven and smells WONDERFUL!

Jim's mother used the same recipe, Sue, but used left over roast beef and made a brown gravy sauce.

Ever baked pears like baked apples, Granny? They're SO good! I sprinkle nutmeg or cinammon on them.

We like sliced pears on lettuce with a dollop of mayo on top. Chilled til dinner time, of course. YUM

That's how I fix pears when we're not having a salad Granny! Sometimes I add a sliced hard-boiled egg on the side.

We also like cottage cheese on peaches!

Jim puts salt and pepper on his cottage cheese! I put a tiny bit of sugar or fruit.

I don't eat anything spicy or hot. I found a really good recipe for chip dip. I am having it tomorrow.

I made homemade Ranch Dip and added a jar of mild salsa. It is yummy and doesn't upset my tummy!
