Embattled Rep. Anthony Weiner resigned today after admitting to sexually charged relationships with women on Facebook and Twitter.
"Today I am announcing my resignation ... so my colleagues can get back to work, my neighbors can choose a new representative, and most importantly, that my wife and I can continue to heal from the damage that I've caused," the New York Democrat said.

Yeah, I'd say so.
They've only been married for 11 months and now she's pregnant. I'd think that complicates things a wee bit. But in the final analysis it's their business how they handle this. -

Let's hope he gets the help that he needs and that his constituents choose his successor wisely.

It's about time.
It's unfortunate that democrat sexual deviants and crooks have to be forced out of office. They never resign without being forced.
Shouldn't Charlie Rangel be next? -
As far as his district - in the last election, Weiner received 66.2 % of the votes, his Republican/Conservative opponent received 33.7%
Weiner ran on the Democrat/Independence*/Working Families Party.
As a side note: D. Duck received one vote!
* Independence Party is the NY version of Ross Perot's Reformed Party.

Regardless, the 9th Congressional District, and the seat, could disappear when state legislators redraw congressional boundaries. Legislators must eliminate two seats as a result of the most recent U.S. Census, WNYC reported.
I doubt the 9th will be eliminated. NY State is a blue state, so the new district lines will be drawn to keep more representation downstate.
but we will see.
