In closing a previous thread, Lady Eagle posted this, which I believe to be only half right:
I do agree with the premise that no personal attacks are necessary against any other BB member, however, for the half that I do agree with.
I would simultaneously argue that the use of a "thumbs up" smilie by the original poster on the subject, regarding a story in a decidedly opinionated internet publication, that ran it, amounts to gloating over what the OP hopes is the final outcome of that election, which is from a state in which he does not reside, and apparently has never resided.

I am amazed that the poster who seemingly wants to appear knowledgable on this issue, apparently was unaware of the article/blog, until almost two full months after the article appeared, however. (At least Dcc. 24, 2008 to Feb. 21, 2009 works out to almost two full months, by my math.)
FTR, I was no huge fan of the politics of the late Sen. Paul Wellstone, although I did think he had a fair amount of personal integrity. I have not, that I can ever recall, publicly or even privately particularly supported Sen. Norm Coleman, do not see that changing anytime soon, and I see even less liklihood that I will become a great supporter of Al Franken, should he eventually be seated. I posted the essence of this back three times around the first of the year, BTW.
I would suggest that even then, I basically considered the MN Senatorial race to a choosing between sludge and slime, frankly, neither option of which I would find particularly appealing to trudge around in, while wearing anything less than a "chemical & hazardous materials" protective suit.
I'm just sorry that the one who was my college roommate for two years had to basically make that choice, given he is a Minnesotan.
Lady Eagle, once again I agree with the statement about "personal attacks" on of such attacks I just accidentally ran across one that I notice you, yourself, made regarding a poster that posted on one of the Coleman threads. I would simply ask that you abide by the same principles here, that you have publicly admonished the rest of us, as well.
I'm not ever attempting to embarrass you or anyone else, FTR. You can read almost 8K posts of mine to notice that that is not my style, nor am I generally considered to be one making personal attacks, I do not think. At least I haven't had any posts snipped, that I can recall off the top of my head, and certainly none recently, for any such personal attack.

I completely disagree with the part of this response, I have embolded. The MN Senatorial election is very much both news, and a current event, even if it is not getting a lot of press currently, for no other reason than that it has not been finally settled, nor as of yet has a Senator been seated, from that state.Lady Eagle said:I am closing this thread. This is the news and current events forum and this topic is not news nor is it a current event. Please remember to post in appropriate forums and that personal attacks are not permitted against other members. Thanks for your cooperation.
