Dear Gershom,
Thank you for your kind words. Please pray for me as often as you are able.
I desire only to walk by the Spirit and despite that I am subject to the infirmities of the flesh.
Pride is my greatest stumbling block and I must strive against it each day, Pray for the continued help of the Lord.

Dear Sister Helen,
You are right. This is why I say I must struggle daily against the spirit of Pride that is in man. I have a tendency of judging where I ought to be judging only that which is in my own heart according to scripture that I myself will not fall under the deceit of the flesh first and then by the fiery darts of satan.
In my case the flesh is a worthy adversary, as much so as the accuser of the brethren may be to some, the flesh is likewise no doubt a roaring lion.
I desire a heart of humility that will permit me to see my own failures as they truly are, transgressions of the Law of God, whereby I may be able to grow and be of aid to others in the same troubles.
otherwise I feel I would be of no use except to go about seeking to establish my own righteousness and not submitting myself to the righteousness of God.
Zeal in the wrong way is not acceptable service neither to God nor to the household of faith. It is likened to the fat of the sacrifice, burnt up quickly with no substance.

Brother Dallas, I think when we get to heaven all of us are going to be humbled not only by the presence of our glorious Lord, but by the knowledge of how wrong we were in a number of areas. So, with that thought in mind, let us practice humility now so that it won't be strange when we really get it!

You are right. Often those who appear secure and godly are just putting on make up. If persecution came along they would disappear.
Many years ago I was in the hospital for a work related injury. I was surprised at who visited me. Most of them were not people I expected to see. -
Psalm 145,
To outright declare someone such as C.S. Lewis unsaved is a very high form of arrogance. If we judged Lewis by his fruits, we should have little question. He dedicated his life to the cause of Christianity. To error on matters of scripture is something we all do. Psalm, you seem to forget that God is the judge of our salvation not you; we can judge fruit and in this case there is little reason to judge in a negative light. If one were truly concerned about Lewis’ salvation and the impact it may have on future generations, one could raise a question for discussion, not outright condemn a fellow believer (In God). -

C S Lewis was not doctrinally perfect but his writings, to me, show a man whose heart was driven to follow Christ as his Lord and Master.

I guess it was inevitable that there would be a "C.S. Lewis is not a Christian" thread with all the Narnia talk going on. Having read several of Lewis's non-fiction books, I am persuaded that, although his theology is not a perfect match for that of most Baptists (including me), he was nevertheless a true believer in Jesus Christ. It's pretty easy to find questionable quotes in the works of anyone who wrote extensively, and Lewis was by his own admission not a seminary-trained theologian. He made mistakes in doctrine, but those errors don't necessarily disqualify him from being a Christian.

I think C S Lewis was a Christian, but I am bothered by his inclusivism.
In one of the Narnia books, a worshiper of a god called "Tash," I believe, is accepted by the true God who tells this person that worshiping Tash was like worshiping God. I heartily disagree with this view. -
Psalm 145:3,
Thanks for sounding the alarm about this Anglican/modernist heretic who has mesmerized so many Baptists with his fairy tales and sophistry.
Mark Osgatharp -
That was in the last book of the series and the point made by Lewis was the same I have made before which you disagreed with! If a person follows the truth he knows, then the Father will lead him to the Son and that person will be saved. We can only answer for what we know -- what we are exposed to.
Consider -- there are a multitude of those who attend churches of various denominations and who claim the name of Christian but who are no more born again than bin Laden! They live fully in tune with the world.
Then there are those in churches that we do not consider Christian or consider only marginally Christian, such as the Roman Catholic, the Mormons, or the JW's. There are those in each of these cults who grab onto the Jesus of the Bible although they are barely able to understand who He is with all the doctrinal mess they are involved in. Nevertheless, they respond to the truth and the final Truth IS Jesus. He said so. I am with Lewis here in believing these people are saved.
Jesus told the woman at the well that God desired those who worship in spirit and in truth, and I think all of us might be surprised as to where some of these folk may be found. -
AMEN Sister Helen.

"There is none other name given under heaven among men, whereby ye must be saved."
And Paul asked,
"how can they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how can they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how can they hear without a preacher?
And he further asserted,
"that they might all be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness."
And again,
"if any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ let him be anathema."
Man, I thought this was a BAPTIST board!
Mark Osgatharp -
I don't think that anyone can credibly say that C.S. Lewis was not a Christian. Here's a story in the the latest U.S. News & World Report:

Oh, so now it is "extreme sectarian" to insist that one must believe that faith in Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation. Hmmmm? The true character of this board's membership is becoming more apparent by the moment.

Dear Brother Mark,
I hope you are not buying into the exclusivism of Landmarkism.
There is none who have denied salvation through Christ only.
Our point is that we are men and do not know the heart of others; this means exactly what Romans 10:10 states.
Righteousness of God is a heart work.
It is evidenced by outward work; full doctrinal agreement is not an evidence. If it were there would be none of us with an eternal hope.
Saved by Grace Alone and Being led toward a true Scriptural Baptism, far, far away from the island of neo-landmarkist campbellism.
