Anyone here planning on going to Campbell Divinity here in NC in the Fall?

I am not, but have looked into going there in the past. I used to live in Raleigh, and alot of the singles at Forest Hills Baptist were students at Campbell's divinity school. It is alot smaller than most SBC seminaries and the atmosphere is very friendly, yet when I applied there I felt as if they were catering only to those who have spent their entire lives in North Carolina, and who planned to serve the Lord in North Carolina once they graduated.

Thanks for replying brother.
That's odd that it would be like that. But then again you know how them NC Baptists can be. lol
Anyway, where are you going now??? -
The BB makes me more aware of what I don't know and how sectarian and provincial my own education has been.
I was going to jump all over somebody going to Campbell, assuming it Disciples of Christ (where no good Baptist should find themselves).
Wonder how many other seminaries I've never even heard of? Since I don't run in SBC or ABC circles, I don't have any idea of all the little schools floating around out there. -
I remember Campbell from when I was a kid growing up in the early 70's in eastern North Carolina. We were not Southern Baptists as Campbell was (at that time, perhaps they are not now). What was Campbell's claim to fame that etched them indelibly in my mind? They bore the distinction of being the first college campus in North Carolina to have a "streaker" ("Oh yes they call him the streak, he likes to show off his physique) run through campus! :D That event became fodder for many camp meeting sermons in my youth and the latest reason not to be involved with the Southern Baptist Convention!

I think Campbell Divinity is one of those new CBF schools. Don't feel bad Dr. Bob and don't confuse the two Swamij. ;)

Beeson and Truett are certainly too conservative for me if that makes anyone feel better ;) .

hope you are well. My brother-in-law was just hired to teach in Samford's religion department. There's some faculty overlap with the Divinity school, and from what I can gather its a good education even if its one of the more conservative schools. Probably still too conservative for some liberals. Moderates like me would still consider it.

Well, Lord willing I will get into Campbell for this coming semester. i'm extremely excited about it. From what I hear they have a good M.Div. program. I plan to concentrate in Pastoral Counseling and Chaplaincy. However I do need to take as many OT electives as possible because my knowledge in that area is not where it should be.
The way I see it is that there are going to be all types of people at Campbell. Some will be liberal, some will be conservative, others will be similar to me. I'm in the middle of the spectrum. So keep me in your prayers please. Also, please pray that God will guide me to where I should be as far as my affiliation. It will either be Baptist or COG.
Anyway, God Bless!!!
In Christ,
Brooks
