Been leaning about these and related therapies:
Physical Adjustments
↓ Vision
↓ Muscle tone
↓ Skin integrity
↓ Auditory
↓ Bone density
↓ Joint mobility
↓ Cognition
↓ Cardio
↓ Nervous system
↓ GI system
↓ Endocrine system
↑Depression- (No wonder!)
Psychological Adjustments
Retirement (loss of self-worth)
Loss of spouse
Loss of children (they move away)
Loss of friends- (Peers)
Loss of mobility and strength
Dealing with mortality
Challenge of meeting daily needs
Inability to participate in hobbies and sports
Loss of motivation
Self-concept (need to be needed)
Concerns about finances, shelter, security
Okay, I undertand, and I've heard getting old is not for sissies!
But now I would like to see ( need to see) a positive adjustment list because I tried to come up with one and it is pretty darn short:
Value of experience
Make great historians
Good family support/ties
Changes Occurring with Normal Aging

You can't come up with a lengthy positive adjustment list to getting older, Benjamin, because you are still a WHIPPERSNAPPER! :flower:

Wisdom
Closer walk with the Lord
Get to use the excuse "I'm old, I can't help it!" -
I think the two biggies are experience and wisdom - which should never be held to ourselves. Share with the younger people but not as a "You do this" but in a discipling situation where the older men and women feed into the younger men and women.
Another huge thing I have found is that those mature saints who can no longer "do" a lot become massive prayer warriors and bathe the church in prayer. I've seen it so often and have been the subject of those prayers and there's no question that it's a mighty purpose for our old age as well. -
When I get old, I'll let you know.
Cheers,
Jim -
I read today where those over 50 are more generous.

Getting old means:
a senior citizen discount at many places
You have forgotten what most people are still learning
You have more experience and wisdom to impart to others
You can take more risks, like skydiving or bungee-jumping without the fear of dying young.
Old people are less likely to get shot by jealous girlfriends/boyfriends.
When people ask nosy questions you can ignore them and they'll think you're just hard of hearing.
If you're not hard of hearing, you can pretend to be and listen to all the latest gossip and no one will know.
You can go live in a nursing home and have breakfast in bed every day. -
I look back over the past 58+ years, and the only regret I have is that
I didn't serve the Lord for at least 20 of those years.
But I look forward and not backward, and I find joy in serving Him now
and the rest of my life !!! -

Closer to medicare in order to afford Benjamin's services :D
how about diminishment of the negative physiological subsets on your list at an advanced age due to wise, healthy choices while younger (stewardship)?
Some more...
Freedom to travel.
Retirement.
Spending more time with family and friends who remain.
Blessing others by allowing them to serve you.
