How many pastors here tell a children's story each Sunday morning as the little ones head off to the "nursery"? I guess some may call it Junior Church.

Obviously, I am not a pastor, but we don't do this in my church.

we don't either, but our old church does.

I don't... and I don't think I would.
If we ever wanted to incorporate such an element into the worship gathering, I would tap the children's ministry leader to do so. I guess on "special occasions" it might be OK, but I have typically found these events to be more about entertaining the adults than a substantive ministry for children. I don't necessarily mean to paint with such a broad brush, as I can certainly envision a context where it may be valuable. -

I only had one church where I did this. Remember, in those days we didn't have all the "pastors" as churches to-day..you were it!
I found it as an opportunity for the pastor to come down from that high and lofty platform called the pulpit, in the eyes of a child, and some people, and go eye to eye with a gospel story for all in attendance.
I did find the children to be more attached to the pastor and not afraid of him in that church than in some other churches.
I never thought of it as entertaining. Shucks, I might have got out of the ministry and pursued a career on stage...it paid better!
Seriously, it was more than a story. It was personal ad did relate gospel truth in language they could understand.
To each his own. I was just curious when I asked the question

A children's story or talk is quite common in our church and has been part of the service in previous churches too. They are usually very good and take place after a hymn and before the children leave to go to their classes.

Hi Sheila, Good to hear from you. I think you were in that other Christian site when I used to wrote a children's story every day.
Cheers,
Jim
