China denounces US 'rights abuse'

The pot calls the kettle black .... again. An annual event.
China has responded in detail to a US report published this week criticising China for alleged rights abuses.

Beijing released its own report on the US, saying crime is a threat to many Americans and racial discrimination prevails in social life across the US.

When US officials first published their report on China, Beijing told them to mind their own business.

The BBC's James Reynolds, in Beijing, says the reports are a standard yearly exchange with little practical impact.

I don't have a problem with us "minding our own business". We can mind our business & refuse to do business with them. That's the way I would handle it.

They are known for forcing women to have abortions. Not to mention, they are still communist. Anytime the government puts extreme limits a person's freedom(s) that is an abuse of people's rights.

I understand your feeling on this one, but I doubt you can live without buying items made in China these days.

And we owe so much to China that they cannot live without helping us. If we default on the loan their economy will be destroyed. If they call in the loans we both will be destroyed. We are both in a no-win situation, or so it seems to me.

Very sadly true. I try NOT to buy items made in China due to the persecution of Chinese christians, but it is really hard to find everyday items made in the USA.

I can honestly say that I have bought Chinese made goods because of the price being cheaper. If I can afford to buy an American made product, I will. These days its hard to do it.

In a previous thread I mentioned the idea of imposing a big tarriff on all Chinese made products coming into our country. There were a lot of people that oppose that. If the Chinese had to pay that tax to sell their products here, they would do one of two things:
1. They would raise their prices on the goods they sell.

Or

2. They would not sell any or cut back the products they ship into the U.S.

Needless to say, this would encourage people to buy American made goods.

For Example:
I know that if I was in a store looking for a 60 minute timer for my kitchen & I saw a Chinese made timer that costs $8.00. We know that Chinese made products don't hold together very well. Then I find a similar timer made in the U.S.A. for $5.00. American made products generally outlast anything made in China. Then I would buy the American made item.

22 years ago I bought a new Chevy and thought I was buying American. I found out later that the engine was Japanese, which is probably why in the 16 years I had that car I never had a single problem with the engine. There's no such thing as "Made in America" any more. A lot of things that are allegedly "Made in America" have parts from other countries. Then it's all assembled in the USA and sold as "Made in America".

We can thank our worthless Congress. Nothing with China will change on the human rights ever since GW Bush signed into law after Congress passed it that China now has Permanent Normal Trade Relations with the US. That was signed into law January 2002, despite China's human rights violations including executing political prisoners (Christians) for harvesting of their eyes and organs.
