Although, I think i have been misunderstood for the most part; One of you at least tried to understand . I was really trying to say that there really is no such a thing as Chritian Hate. But we are to hate sin. Christian Rock and Roll is deceiving, and we are not to be deceived as the Word says in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-12. Thank you for your input, and God Bless.

Define Christian Rock. That is an extremely broad generalization. That's like saying like saying all cookies are evil, when in reality only ones with raisins and coconut are. :D

Ezequiel 28 should point you in the right direction, anything the devil has that imitates tru and genuine worship, is antichrist; just dont be deceived. if your saved youll know whether its right or wrong. Beeing a good Christian is not "Having a good cry", or "feeling good" like some music wether or whaterver it is makes you feel, for we "Walk by Faith and not by sight".

So THAT'S why I've never seen a biblical justification...
my Bible doesn't have "Ezequiel"
I enjoy debating folks with this mentality. It gives my mind a rest. -

Jesus said many will say that they have done things in his name and yet he'll reply that he never knew them. Adding lyrics from the Bible or words that are 'Christian-orineted' does not make a song or a group Godly or God honoring. Simon (of Samaria Acts 8) performed sorcery before Philip preached Jesus and still after he got saved he wanted to do the same things and was rebuked because it was not that he wanted to bring glory to God but because his heart was not right. How much more does the Devil take good things and try to marry them up with evil things...he is a smart one that devil.
Can somethng that sounds like the world, moves like the world, acts like the world, looks like the world...be separated from the world according to the Bible's idea of sepration...NO!! Rom 12:2, "...be not conformed to this world..." Remember we are to be a new creature with old things passing away...not keep the old things so we can keep in touch or relate to the unsaved!! IMO...this is a heresy that is prevalent through many churchs and it usually comes through the youth ministry...because we think we need to 'relate' but we are discrediting our youth and God's Power & Word...it is sad!!
Gib- Do you really need a list or are you just trying to wear him out from all of the typing he'd have to do? -
I'll save him some typing. He can just list the Top 25.

Musical style has no relationship to how Godly a song is. Your preference sees the outside of the cup. God looks at the inside. -

OK, so, for example, if we were to sing "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing," that would be OK, but if we sing "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing" with a guitar accompaniment and someone banging on a drum, the same song is "deceiving" us?
2 Thess. 2:3-13 speaks of the deception of the man of sin, and says nothing about being "deceived" by someone beating a drum in the un-correa-approved fashion.

I was going to write something witty, but instead I thought I'd post this instead.

"Heart of Worship"
When the music fades,
All is stripped away, and I simply come
Longing just to bring
Something that's of worth
That will bless your heart
I'll bring you more than a song
For a song in itself is not what you have required.
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear;
You're looking into my heart.
I'm coming back to the heart of worship
And it's all about you
All about you Jesus.
I'm sorry Lord for the thing I've made it
When it's all about you,
All about you Jesus.
King of endless worth
No one could express
How much you deserve.
Though I'm weak and poor
All I have is yours, every single breath.
I'll bring you more than a song
For a song in itself is not what you have required.
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear;
You're looking into my heart.
I'm coming back to the heart of worship
And it's all about you
All about you Jesus.
I'm sorry Lord for the thing I've made it
When it's all about you,
All about you Jesus.
Interesting article on the subject at hand.

I love it when someone attacks a style of music. It just goes to show some folk will always find something to complain about

The world showers daily--I shouldn't. :(
The world uses toilets--I shouldn't.
The world eats apple pie--I shouldn't.
The world uses computers--I shouldn't. -
(WARNING: satire ahead)
Tori Amos--a female artist whose music is far, far from redeeming...has done her last album with only piano accompaniment.
All these heathen youth should quit using music that has piano in it...that sounds like the world. Heathens, every one of them.
(end of satire)
MrCoon...Please show me, from a scriptural basis, what's wrong with using modern musical styles, if the message is unashamedly Christian? You cannot. You will fall back on "don't be like the world."
One of my former students has a concert pianist for a father. He plays "good music," and he is a terrible dad...he left them for another woman, and has nothing to do with his family. This particular student, now one of those "heathen musicians," came and did a concert--for free--for us a few years back. He stayed after the concert and talked with several students, leading two of them to Christ.
I have watched God use all styles of music...from bluegrass to rockin...to glorify His name. You don't want to use it? Fine. You don't like it? Fine. But until you can WITH SCRIPTURE prove that the music itself is evil, then your argument doesn't hold water.
Petrel's satire makes good points...don't pluck and "stretch" the Word to condemn something that doesn't suit your tastes.
Once again...no ill will to you, but I would ask for the distinction: "I don't like it" or "I won't have it in my church" is a fine statement. But I'd be very, very careful about saying, "That's not of God." God is not fond of people assigning a work of His to Satan.
Finally...I'm not arguing that every modern artist is a God-fearing icon of truth. I've met some real jerks in CCM...as well as southern Gospel, and even music ministers. That doesn't condemn the whole crowd or genre.
Rant over.
