Take the story from Acts, where they were told not to preach; the decision becomes, do I preach, and endanger myself and other Christians? Or do I keep everyone safe, and refrain from spreading the Gospel?
If I burn a koran, is this something that scripture dictates, or even suggests, I should be doing? By burning a koran, do I show the glory of God? If so, then by all means, I should burn it, and shout hallelujah, and preach the Word while doing it.

However, what if we were told to not spread the Gospel and by doing so, we will endanger the lives of believers in Islamic countries? Would you stop preaching? -

"aLLLLLLLALLLLLLLALLLLLLLAH... tHEN BOOOM".. THEY BLOW THEMSELVES UP.. HOPING TO GET some virgins that other idiots have already gotten to!
Witness for Christ...
BOOOM...
tHERE goes another muslim driving his goat into a building!
post a picture of Mohammad....
Booom...
goes another muslim....
Say something against the Koran....
Yep, you guessed it.....
Allllalallalallllllalalalllllaaaaaah.... sssssssss...... OK That one wasn't smart enough to load his bomb right, and just burned a hole in his underwear!
The point is.. .Muslims (True Muslims) are terrorists to anyone else who is not a muslim.
There's a reason we are called Infidels by them... they hate us...
So ANYTHING WE DO will incite a riot by the idiots!Click to expand...
What a gross exaggeration.
Do you have problems [like the rest of us] living the Christian life and obeying the clear instructions of Christ our Lord? Look UP and listen.
"But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. ...If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' love those who love them..."--Jesus -

Did I say I didn't love them?
But anyone who would strap a bomb to themselves and blow themselves up in a suicide bombing, just because another idiot wants to burn a koran.. well they are idiots!...
Look at what is happening today (9-15-10) the Muslims in Afghanistan are still rioting although the Koran was NEVER burned by Jones...
Yes they need the Gospel.. but according to some libs we shouldn't share the gospel with them because it might offend other muslims that might riot...
Well, the one's rioting are the ones to be blamed.
All an American has to do is hold a match to a Koran, and Muslim nations around the world start attacking each other... and killing each other... Geesh.. what a peaceful religion Islam is! -

It was just dumb luck that this particular terrorist failed his attack on the infidels. -

I'm going to make a prediction- the bomber will get life in prison. This dude fired his team of high-powered court-apointed attorneys. That's a disastrous move from a defense perspective. It's probably a good thing in the end, although I doubt the attorneys could get him a sentence below the 40-50 year range. -
Crabtownboy said: ↑Let us get back to the question I posed that no one so far has addressed:
Should a Christian consider how their acts, especially extreme acts, will impact the safety of the property or lives of Christians living in Islamic countries?
Unless I missed an answer no one has answer that question.Click to expand...Click to expand... -
What's amazing to me is that Crabby is teaching this hippy theology to impressionable seminary students in a so called Baptist seminary. He seems to be espousing a version of liberation theology where there is a victim and an oppressor. In this case Christians, who are the oppressors, need to stop offending the poor victims (Muslims). The oppressors are only reaping what they have sown by their oppressive aggression towards Muslims in recent history.

In my opinion attempted murder or attempted terrorism should be a capital offense with the possibilty of the death penalty depending upon the circumstances. -

I have and had my life threatened, that doesn't surprise me because I've been threatened by enraged non-muslims as well, but I'm still going to witness as the Lord gives me opportunity (and courage).
For the radical islamists we are worthy of death just because our heart is beating. You can't tell who is radicalized, they are taught to control their wrath.
If you haven't already, go to a muslim community and knock on doors with the Gospel message of the love of God.
You will learn something.

Paul, why do you want to defend the indefensible. A seminary needs to teach the Word and not some 60's radicalized perversion of it. If I'm not mistaken, the IMB pulled funding from this seminary because of its questionable theology.

Did I say they are going to hell? I'm sure in real life that Crabby is a nice guy. We could probably enjoy a cup of coffee together so long as politics are not a part of the conversation and he doesn't wear his "Would Jesus Drop A Bomb?" T-shirt.

You are right, if we met we could happily have a cup of coffee and a danish together. In 'real life' I can get along with almost anyone. The cool print on the computer screen does not carry inflection, facial expressions, etc. well and misunderstanding is very easy on a BB.
Don't believe I've ever talked about Liberation Theology. Not a subject I know much about. What little I know of LT in the Central American contest I do not agree with. SAG, what is liberation theology to you?
You are right, we in the West are reaping what we have sown. For centuries Christians and those of Islamic faith lived side-by-side in peace. That began to change after WW I and increased rapidly after WW II.
Oh, and by the way, I am not a professor. I am a librarian, working in the library ... primarily cleaning up the online database. IBTS has the largest English language collection of theological books in Europe.
On funding, the SBC withdrew funding primarily because IBTS and the European Baptist Federation would not agree to having one representative from the SBC approve or disapprove all, and I mean all, expenditures by the seminary. Not all funding came from the SBC. I was not here when the defunding happened, but have talked with former students who were and also read on the topic in several books. It all boiled down to economic control and had little to do with theology.

Just a bit off thread - but hippies - wasn't Calvary Chapel started for the hippie movement?
(maybe someone could start another thread on this)
