Just wondering, Per Capita which state in the U.S.A has the most Christians that live there?
I knew someone who had been over to America and they said there is this place there called Tulsa where many christians live? Is that right?

Will try to search it, but it will be in the Old South (the Bible Belt)
My guess would be Tennessee. -
63% of Rhode Island are Roman Catholic
33% of Mississippi are Southern Baptist
71% of Utah are Latter Day Saints
28% of North Dakota are Evangelical Lutheran
Great site for details

Dr. Bob, didn't you know that EVERYONE here in Tennessee is a Christian??? ;)
I know that many in this state claim to be SBC, but they don't attend or support their churches. I don't recall the exact statistic, but I believe it was somewhere around 44% claimed to be SBC, 39% claimed to be Church of Christ. -

Tulsa is up the road from me; the metropolitan area has a population of about 564,079, and someone has counted 558 churches within the central city. The Hartford Center for Religious Research lists 10 "Megachurches" in the city proper, many of them United Methodist (including the beautiful Boston Avenue UMC, an art deco cathedral).
It has long had a reputation of being a "televangelist" town. Oral Roberts University is there, and Robert Tilton was headquarters in Tulsa until folks found out that the staff would remove checks from letter and throw out the prayer requests.
Billy James Hargis skyrocketed to national attention with his ultra-righteous, patriotic Christian Crusade in the '60s and '70s; he even had his own college. His career, however, was cut short by allegations of sexual scandals.
Tulsa also is the home of Kenneth Hagin's Rhema Bible Church (and correspondence school.)
What does all that mean? I have no idea and it's probably a lot more than you wanted to know. -
Isn't Tulsa also the home of the KOOK that went to Matt Sheperds funeral with all of the "God hates Fags" signs?

Dunno about my state in general, but in my city, 50% are Roman Catholic, 40% are Protestant (non-RC Christians), 5% are Jewish, 3% are other, and 2% are agnistoc/atheist. 2/3 of the Catholic & Protestant community are active churchgoers.

There's no sure way to tell which state is most Chrtistian. Christianity is a relationship, nota religion. There are many faithful Christians who do not attend evangelical churches as we know them, and many people who attend ev churches are not saved.
Sure, we can tell which state has the most number of active religions church attendence, or which state has the highest rate of church membership, but that's where it stops. -
Tennessee. Great place. A few years ago a state senator drove over a kid on a motorcycle and killed kim so the state named the highway . . . after the senator.
-
Thought that was South Dakota??
Ah, those senators ARE in a hurry . . . -
So specifically where in the U.S is the "Bible Belt"?
-
Usually considered in the Deep South Ben.
A swath rougly covering Texas, Lousiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina.
Any other interpretations folks? -

Nope, C4K, you got it right.

FBCPW, I think he's thinking of the Senator from SD that was convicted late last or early this year. That's the only one I recall hearing of.
-
It would have to be...
The only thing I can think of involving a serious crime and politicians within recent years here in TN is the Byron Looper/Tommy Burks story. -
That's the only thing I could think of, too. Well, you know those people on the West Coast...The pollen must have gotten to him/her. LOL
