Hmm - I can't really help but I know my husband has written soundtracks for our plays and he wrote a number of songs for one play that was written by our senior associate pastor's wife (who is our drama director).
:)
Maybe find someone who is musically inclined to help out?
Great - Now I'm singing his most loved song "Fish, glorious fish!"
LOL
Are you doing it as a Biblical play (like acting out Luke) or are you having it in a different setting?
Ann - The narrator will be reading the actual scripture from the first two chapters of Luke while the actors portray the scenes. I have an older church member playing Luke. The play will open with him sitting at a table and writing on a scroll.
A friend of mine is narrating. He actual found a sound track that includes the sound of a pen writing on paper that he's going to play as he reads, so that it sounds like Luke writing.
As for the soundtrack, I'm going to use several well-known songs, mostly in instrumental format, like Silent Night, O Come O Come Emmanuel, and What Child is This? I want to end the play with Mary and Joseph taking the infant Christ to the Temple and encountering Simeon and Anna. The way I've envisioned it after Simeon prophesies over Jesus Mary will hold the baby while our church pianist sings Mary Did You Know?, then Anna comes in and after she leaves, the narrator, who is also a really good singer, is going to sing Joseph's Lullaby.
