We recently had a church building seminar with a man very experienced in church planting and rebuilding. We are not into the whole "seeker" movement, and neither is he, but basically, he told us the same thing the article said. There are ways to make church more man-friendly without changing traditional style worship.
He gave me music tips, like picking out faster, lower-pitched hymns for morning worship, instead of soft, flowery songs. He also mentioned having specific activities for the men, like hunting outings or camping retreats.
I think that's all and good, but God is a HE and he created love and flowers and feelings as well as testosterone! I think if people love God they will come to church and not make lame excuses like blaming flower arrangements on their lack of passion for Christ. -
I read a similar article awhile back and can only say that the author makes some good and probably true points.

oh good grief, God alone not good enough now?

I meant, isn't God enough for people to worship, now they need more then just Him, no, it's an excuse not to worship, nothing more. -
I attend a co-ed SS class at church, made up mostly of married couples my age: For one main reason (besides the fact that my brother and sister-in-law are also in that class)..... for the leadership...... its taught by a man...... and the strength and stability and comfort I feel in that class. Though I'm widowed, I feel right at home. A member of our class lost his wife to cancer about a year ago and still comes. Recently another member lost her husband to cancer and is starting to return after some absence and adjustment.
I think God gives strength and leadership to the church through men when they are committed to Christ Jesus.
Some from my church helped me when I had uninsured damage to my house caused by a storm: If I'd buy the lumber and the French doors, then they would install them so the rain wouldn't beat in....... and they did. God bless each one! -

Also notice that they asked church going men - all readers of "Sorted", which is a UK Christian magazine. They're not excuses for not worshipping if they are still doing it. If they had asked men why they weren't going to church and they gave these responses, maybe they would be excuses, but this is not the case. -

I have to agree with the dancing... I've seen some freaky stuff in church from a women's dance group. -
Church not being manly enough is only an excuse for not going. Nothing more.

The article is simply a poll showing the preferences of men and makes no assertion as to how the church should be.
